oh definitely. Having places and districts in Shanghai that look similar to Akihabara, or Shibuya, or Ginza, or Harajuku would be pretty awesome, and instantly boost Shanghai's "cool" factor and tourism appeal. Right now a lot of central Shanghai seems to be dominated by drab, uninspiring cookie-cutter blocks from the 90s, and a lot of unnecessarily-wide boulevards, even though the Bund and skyline are pretty cool. Shanghai having its own version of Shibuya Crossing and its intense complex of LED screens would be pretty amazing, or an Akihabara district for donghua culture, to be honest.

I am not aware of Shanghai having anything like this at the moment, but it would be pretty rad:

I would prefer having streets full of small restaurants and food vendors, especially like streets with Moslem food street vendors because I like to eat and I like street food.

Those videos of Jayoe Nation, Gweilo60 and Barrett channel on their trip to Chongqing together, truly makes me want to go there and try those small crowded restaurants with all that aroma steaming out from those woks and try those really spicy food and some honest to goodness noodles. The YouTubers got a trip sponsored by iChongqing which is a tourist company promoting the city, and I say it is working!!

The old guys in the CCP ain’t exactly artsy tourism food connoisseurs. They cracked down super hard on street vendors because of appearance.

I think places like Xiongan and Shanghai suburbs are gonna go more for the futuristic green high tech cities instead or artsy. That’s more up their alley which is efficiency and practicality.

This. Beijing’s fabled indie music/arts scenes are still reeling from the current municipal government’s efforts to clean up the city.

Does anyone know what is the value ($$) of german car sales in China? I only know that China imports cars from Germany for about 24 B euro, but the majority of german cars are made in Chinese plants.
