The most lasting legacy of Trump's administration will be that he singledhandedly upended, be it for better or worst, the stable ties that existed between China and US since Nixon. Not only did he unmasked America' true intention for reaching out to China under Nixon; which is to push for regime change "peacefully", but also revealed America is actually rather open to the option of force(yes against a nation the size of China) when the first path fails. From Chinese perspective, it also unmasked that the US side has never sincerely respect the legitimacy of the Chinese state or their sovereign rights. For the US, the UN Charter is merely a peace of scrap. Trump highly irresponsible in the sense that he never actually gives a thought to the possible consequences, to the US or rest of the world, if armed conflicts arised as a result of his actions. To him, the burden is for the future generation to bear, all he want is a legacy that "hopefully" see him being on the right side of history(maintaining US hegemony at all cost).
