H-20 bomber (with H-X, JH-XX)

To be fair, it would seem that the H-X is further along in development than the other bombers (although we don't have much information regarding the PAK-DA). The LRS-B contract has not yet been awarded and it would take at least a couple of years after that before a prototype can be worked on. If the recent rumor is true and that parts are indeed being manufactured for the first prototype, then we might be looking at potentially a year or so, at most, before the first unit takes flight (i.e. late 2016).

Oh yikes this post didn't age well. :p

On another note, @huitong is suspecting that the "H-18" might be the same "176 aircraft" mentioned by pupu and may be named "JH-19".
Of course I'm almost certain that this is his personal conjecture rather than solid rumors or recent news.

Whatever the ‘H-20’ might be, it would absolutely need to be able to fire long range AShM and it might very well be its primary role instead of strategic bombing.

Striking at static military bases/positions can already be accomplished by the rocket force, but striking moving targets at sea remains highly uncertain.

I have severe doubts regarding the survivability of PLAN surface ships away from the coast and PLAN subs aren’t quiet enough to avoid detection. While H-6 lacks any sort of survivability what so ever.

A reliable way to strike-back at US carrier groups is the most urgent matter for the PLA rn and I do not get how nothing has came out of it since 2011. Even the Americans expressed how they would be alot more worried if J-20 turned out to be a long range maritime strike fighter instead of a pure fighter.

of OK credibility. AVIC First Institute has recently completed a batch of important tests two days ahead of schedule. The Weibo poster believes this means RCS tests have been completed, and the bomber project is ready to enter the next phase.

But what makes you believe it is related to the new bomber?

The images say nothing about the new bomber, but the person who shared it thinks this has something to do with the completion of RCS tests. The poster apparently has some credibility.
What would be the usual next phase after RCS test then, do we know?

Depends on which RCS tests we are talking about. If it is something like the BAE's Replica that would indicate they are still testing the shaping and are in the initial stages of designing an aircraft. But it could also be testing of a more finalized aircraft and in that case it would typically be done in an enclosed facility made for these purposes. This might not be related to the H-20 at all.
