Fantastic day today. Not only the threat of self immolation didn't set the Hong kong alight. (Pun intended). The police had a productive day. It's a win win.

For those don't read Chinese. 68 arrest including 2 councillors

The police are surrounded by rioters... ahem.. I meant 'journaĺists'. Didn't certain person mention about journalists in Hong Kong recently. How unfair they need to be vetted just like they do almost everywhere else in the western world?

This must be very confusing to the British public reading this, including members here from the UK. Lol

But kudos to the British officers. Bravo. Actually I think he's the guy shouting to a councillor "you sir, are a disgrace" in a video I posted some while back.

And that's the video I showed to my friend (who thought Hong Kong police was brutal after seeing all the BBC). I said no there are not. And he was arguing with me.

Then I search my phone and showed him that clip. And the clio where the officers child was threatened at school. Immediately he was speechless. Because here's a white British guy in charge of the Hong Kong police force. And I can see confusion raging in his mind. That how can this be. It was fun.

Almost 100 Hong Kong police officers, including two Britons working for the force, have been formally honoured for their service to the territory during last year’s pro-democracy protests, just as the service faces criticism of brutality against demonstrators.

Rupert Dover and David Jordan, both assistant commissioners, received awards alongside their colleagues in the former British colony. The two could be the subject of a private prosecution in the UK on allegations of torture against

protesters.

Mr Dover was one of the six ground operations commanders to police the protests last year. He has defended his acts as “police officers doing their jobs, acting in accordance with the law”. Demonstrators accuse the

Wait for the police brutality comment to come in. Plus human rights from arminsty international. No wait, they can't now after everyone seen Trump's America treatment of their peaceful protestors. Lol

Just love this one, supposed to be half daze and fainted. Yet still got enough faculty to remove his mask ready for the cameras. Lol

Not really, British people have been living in Hong Kong for over a century, so it's understandable that some would still be in the HK police. Alternatively he might have thought there was a job opportunity if he moved to HK - he could even be related to some of the police officers who used excessive force to break up the miners' strikes in the 1980s. ;)

Of course, if you meant to say that you have confidence in his abilities to fairly and proportionately police a protest because he's British, then that's a very nice thing for you to say about the UK police.

I'm not sure what Beijing is expecting the UK to do, but maybe it's just for domestic consumption. Then again the CCP could always instruct UK lawyers to bring a private prosecution. That's a thing.

IP & freedom protection.
As we have been hearing "IP theft" whining since dark ages from west, pretty sure they should know a flag is a national symbol & belongs to particular people of country. Without that country's permission how are these protesters burning flag on UK soil? Its the same saga when western people use their freedom of expression to insult other cultures/beliefs & start whining as terrorized when the hit back starts. That's a bigger thing.
I am expecting UK to take swift action, unless of course they want China to exercise it's freedom of reaction.
After all, we are going to establish all out freedom going forward.

That's not how IP law works. IP law protects a company/organisation/person against another party copying something they have the rights to. It doesn't stop a person destroying that item once they've purchased it.

E.g. you buy an iphone and then take a picture or video of yourself smashing it because you want to make a point about Apple or something. That's perfectly legal.

Also as far as I undertand it IP and copyright in countries like the UK don't cover flags or other national symbols anyway. Does China even require companies that make flags inside China to get permission from some sort of agency before they make flags? Probably not.

I am expecting UK to take swift action, unless of course they want China to exercise it's freedom of reaction.

Like what exactly? I guess the equivalent is PRC citizens burning the Union Jack. Not sure anyone in the UK would care about that, they'd just think it a bit odd.

Lol, because king Arthur gave this law?
By your own statement " IP law protects a company/organisation/person against another party copying something they have the rights to". How did they gain/ copy it without authorization? Will come to the destruction part later.

Typical western response.
What made you think i am going to react by burning union jack? You did "choose" your own way to express your feelings.
I am free to react in any way i want to react. That might not be burning union jack.

You are not the only one who can play the game of freedom.
