Speaking of Oracle, is it still the biggest player in the data processing market? I read somewhere that Amazon and Microsoft almost killed off Oracle with their cloud server, and Oracle also got routed in China when their once-customer Alibaba decided to develop their own cloud division.

I am still against him expanding CCP powers in private sector though.
You can have either "state owned enterprises" or "enterprises owned state". I would much rather China have a powerful centralized state than descend into feudal fiefdoms like America. I am delighted that Xi has expanded the government's power and control over the private sector. People like Jack and Pony have their place, but that place most certainly isn't wielding influence over China's politics.

Jack and Pony are controlled by CCP members like Jiang family. The Chinese state is a massive corporation in itself. Who will control them? Government is made of rich/powerful people afterall.

The US is getting screwed because government got too powerful and monopolies leveraged that power.

agreed, you don't want China to end up like corporate-controlled and -enslaved America right? Where government is the slave and subservient to capital and greed of private capitalists? No! That's bad, simply put.

“A permanent (Chinese) military presence in Cambodia could threaten regional stability and undermine the prospects for the peaceful settlement of disputes, the promotion of maritime safety and security, and the freedom of navigation and overflight,” the statement said.

GENEVA (AP) — A World Trade Organization panel ruled Tuesday that Trump administration tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese goods are illegal, vindicating Beijing even if the United States has all but incapacitated the WTO's ability to hand down a final, binding verdict.

The decision marks the first time that the Geneva-based trade body has ruled against a series of high-profile tariffs that President Donald Trump's government has imposed on a number of countries — allies and rivals alike. Trump has repeatedly claimed that the WTO treats the U.S. unfairly.
In its decision, the WTO’s dispute settlement body ruled against the U.S. government's argument that China has wrongly engaged in practices harmful to U.S. interests on issues including intellectual property theft and technology transfer.

The ruling, in theory, would allow China to impose retaliatory tariffs on billions' worth of U.S. goods. But it is unlikely to have much practical impact, at least in the short term, because the U.S. can appeal the decision and the WTO's appeals court is currently no longer functioning — largely because of Washington’s single-handed refusal to accept new members for it.

The appeals court issues final rulings in trade cases and stopped functioning last year when the terms of two of its last three judges expired with no replacements. That means the United States can appeal the decision “into the void,’’ said Timothy Keeler, a lawyer at Mayer Brown and former chief of staff for the U.S. Trade Representative.

Well just like the world found out how Trump can violate laws in the US and not get punished was really just an honor system and not an whole-hearted embracing of the rule of law, these internationally institutions like the WTO are only really about how the rest of the world has to follow them. When the world defies WTO rules, the world is suppose to gang up on and punish those don't comply. You think the EU and especially Japan and South Korea would dare to punish their sugar daddy, the US?

Does anyone here knows if the US can just ignore the ruling while it appeals the decision "into the void", or it must obey the ruling right now?
Nah, it's toothless. The US won't follow. It just shows the rest of the world that the US flips the chessboard when it's losing and also gives China ammunition to also ignore rules when dealing with the US. It removes America's perceived moral high ground (as if that was still there after everything that happened in 2020) in the world.
