China is not going to allow this sale.
People need to remember that China never changed the rules negatively half way through.
China became more and more open as time went by.
Never did China allow a company to come in, invest capital, then tell them to give their shit to another Chinese company or beat it.
US can't do gunboat diplomacy on China, so this is the new way. So far they've taken down Hisilicon and shown what happens if a Chinese company doesn't obey.

If the US can hijack ByteDance's product, China can reply by hijacking a Microsoft product, like Windows. The US can only lose more if it attempts to steal Tik Tok.
why you think it is humiliating? US is screwing itself by making it an unreliable investment destination. Look at how India screwed itself.

Have I missed something? Softbank is a Japanese company, ARM is (or was) British and Nvidia is US-owned. Where does China get a veto on the potential sale?
The same way China put down the Hongkong terrorists and sent them scurrying.
It is called antitrust of merger and acquisitions. ARM and Nvidia have done a lot of business with China so China has a say in the matter unless ARM and Nvidia wanted to exit China and stop doing business with China.
