Here's a recent story from when I was waiting in line for my prescriptions.

I saw this Singaporean Chinese woman and her mom walking in Costco going around and trying to talk to white people in English. She tells them how she, a Singaporean, loves America and which Christian church they go to. The mom doesn't speak a single word of English.

She then went to the pharmacy to ask some questions, skipping right in front of me. The pharmacist was Asian and the lady started speaking to her in Mandarin right off the bat. That pharmacist was actually Chinese Malay and does speak a little Chinese, but gave me an uncomfortable look because I was skipped and I just shrugged.

Afterwards she went off to find more white cashiers to speak to, skipping the blacks.


Not only do we have traitors, but we also have these types setting us back a thousand years. It might all be the same people.

Get used to seeing such kind of people.
After all, this world got characters like Joshua Wong masquerading as self declared spokesman for all Hong Kong.
We also seen character like Gordon Chang.

Such people out to fight for Democracy and Human Rights and Human Freedom?

They out only to get all the money that they can get by spreading hatred and more hatred for the pieces of silver, and gold, and Bitcoins that they can milk from their tirades.

So, can we have a consensus on what would be an acceptable term to use for the pro-riot, rabidly anti-China ethnic Chinese who’s greatest wish is that they were born Caucasian?

I did not want to use HKer or TWer because I think that is offensive to the real peoples of Hong Kong and Taiwan. I do not think such extremists should get to represent the identities of being from those two regions, nor do I wish to paint all the good peoples of those regions with the same brush by allowing these extremists to define what it is to be from those areas any more than Nazis should define what it is to be German.

I agree.

I also think that there is Stockholm Syndrome invoked on all colored folks due to the history of imperialism and slavery.

Former colonial citizens seem to always have people that wish to go back to “those” days. Some Indians want the British Raj back. “Hongkong terrorists” is similar. Some blacks in America even want slavery back.

Maybe China needs to start acting more like a pimp? Physical and emotional abuse.

"Anti-Chinese" or "anti-PRC" might be the most neutral term to use, or "pro-black shirt" in reference to the chosen colour of their particular movement.

You know why I am issuing the above warning.
There are terms that enable identification of individuals of different political leanings, and then there are terms which do that but also convey spite and virulent hostility and derogatory.
I do not want to encourage the latter, and the word "roach" falls into that category. Yes, individuals of that group might use derogatory words as well, but on SDF at least I hope we can strive to be better than them.

Also, I want to repeat that this isn't a thread for personal experiences and anecdotes about encounters with people that we have had political differences with.

Very very good question as it appears that the purely domestic phase on the Hong Kong unrest has morphed more into an International and Geopolitical story. That part is simple enough, but we all now know that HK is but a factor in a greater move by China's rivals to try and challenge and otherwise contain Chinese interests.

So the question is, do we continue with this thread as the thread for the new phase as it relates to Hong Kong, do close this thread and open a new thread specifically for this phase in Hong Kong, or do we open a new thread that deals with the whole issue China wide?

What I would say in relation to Hong Kong is the curious dichotomy of the actions and sanctions being applied to by the West, which simply seem to be hastening the integration of Hong Kong into the rest of mainland China and go totally against the oft quoted aim of "protecting Hong Kong's unique freedoms"

Great assessment. Especially the part Hong Kong has been and always was basically chess piece that's was played by the western countries to hurt, challenge, demonize and most of all to contain China.

I especiallg agree with your analysis of the sanctions being applies to Hong Kong, it only really hurt Hong Kong itself, and make the western sanctions look good to their audiences and add absolutely nothing to the "democracy and freedom" of its people.

With regards to closing the threads down and start new one. Etc. IMHO, why can't we just leave it along?

Its not quite dead yet. The Joshua Wong, Jimmy Lai and his irks are still at large. And are been brewing up things to undermine Hong Kong as we speak. They are just doing it under the radar of the national security law. This isn't over by any means.

Or maybe just rename it to say, just Hong Kong thread. In this way we still got connection to past post. (Which is a mindful of information).

I have a brief off topic question. Can anyone tell me why the Communist Party of China gets abbreviated CCP . Shouldn't it be CPC?

What difference does it make?

Chinese words are Chinese communist party. CCP.
English words make use of the "of" as in communist party "of" China. CPC.

They are interchangeable, but as a Chinese I prefer CCP.
