Looks like they've realized that smurf uniform made them obvious targets when they don't want to be one and invisible when they want to be seen. Thank goodness the top brass finally listened (after tons of pleading and internet sarcasm, I presume).

Don't know yet. This is for Western region which is mostly deserts and mountains and grasslands. Marines aren't shown yet.

Well the PLA are aware and have prepared for this. These have appeared more and more in the past years. Perhaps in this drill they didn’t see the need.

I’m aware of that. But one thing I couldn’t agree on is that why spending millions or even billions when they couldn’t be bothered to get the most basic thing (1 dollar worth) correct.

Perhaps they put on the flag just for this one Tiktok promotional video?

Around 6:56 shows the same tablet used in this video and it had no flag on it.
The flag is probably easily removable and not a permanent feature of the new vest/carrier.
If you want a low visibility flag you can stick it on there or rip off the bright red flag when you feel like it is not needed.

I feel like people who design these kinds of things as a professional career will know not to put a literal big red flag on people's chest and make it a non-removable feature of the rig....
