So when can we do the same to the US for being ignoring everything till the end and causing more to spread because their response was inept, dishonest, and utterly inconsiderate of the world? We need to teach the US government a lesson.

Though I really wonder how much longer they can shoot their own leg for. It's gotta be breaking records already. Truly setting the gold standards for shooting their own foot.

Trump adviser warned of millions of virus deaths in January. Trump says he saw the memo only this week.

Trump says he never saw a January WH memo warning of the impact from coronavirus

President Trump said Tuesday that he did not learn of two memos written in January and February by his own economic adviser warning that a COVID-19 pandemic could kill as many as 2 million Americans until “maybe a day ago.”
“I heard he wrote some memos talking about pandemic,” Trump said during a White House coronavirus task force briefing, “I didn’t see them. I didn’t look for them, either.”
On Jan. 29, Peter Navarro warned his colleagues at the White House that if the administration did not mount an aggressive containment strategy for the coronavirus, it could kill more than half a million Americans and cost the country nearly $6 trillion.
Nearly a month later, on Feb. 23, Navarro distributed an even more dire second memo in which he said as many as 100 million Americans could be infected with COVID-19, which might kill upwards of 2 million U.S. citizens.

Poodles are the 2nd most intelligent dog breed - on the other hand, huskies are among the least intelligent, also the Korean "yellow-dogs" which are bred for food tend to be not very intelligent. It just seems more humane to eat less intelligent breeds. But of course, it would be best if people stopped dog consumption altogether.

Actually I was thinking about creating a new breed just for meat. It would be illegal to eat any other breed and also illegal to keep the new breed as pets. This should control the stray population of this new breed and help alleviating some of the health concern with dog meat consumption. As for intelligence, the old argument about pigs still stands.

When I was living and working in Guangzhou in early 90s, I was introduced to eating the 'Fragrant meat'. Of all the meat I eaten from lamp, waygu beef to black Spanish pig and mangalica pork, the most tender delicious meat I have had was Hsiang rou or 'Fragrant meat' aka dog meat.

An important part dish was the skin.
And so I was told shar pei was bred for the pot with its multifold of skin.
And now becoming a star pet dog.
So if you want to talk of a dog bred for the pot, it was the shar pei

For all it is worth.

Then what about Trump for not bothering to read memo written in January?
And his entire cabinet for not bothering to read that memo either?

Well, yes, the authors did not specifically say those words if that's what you've been looking for. Yes, they suggested that the Wuhan wet market might not be the originating location for the virus. However, I believe that you have been trying to over-interpret their conclusions/suggestions, i.e. the Wuhan wet market is not the originating location = it must be outside of China. Those two statements are not equal. In their discussion, it is plainly clear that they meant other places in China, NOT other places outside of China. And they suggested that other places might have also contributed, including Guangdong and Shenzhen. Nowhere in their paper did they suggest any non-Chinese locations as a possibility. None! They did not mention anything about outside of China.

And their analysis has since been corroborated by other similar analyses using more genomic samples, including the most recent one that we discussed yesterday. I have not yet their actual study. I will share with you as soon as I find it. But here is an NYT article on it first posted by another fellow forum member. I apologize for forgetting who posted it here first!

The latest analysis used thousands of genomic data from all around the world. As you can see from their analysis, the original Chinese strains are almost completely gone. So we no longer have the bias that you mentioned (I agree with you that the bias in that early paper is important). Yet, all the genomes of the latest strains still trace back to China. We have yet found any other parent strains from any outside of China locations. All the evolutionary analyses still point to a Chinese bat species as the most probable incubator and host for the virus and all the ancient genetic traces still tracks back to China.
if the virus didn't originate in China, there would be an outbreak in other-than-China country last year, I guess

(but of course one might claim a already infected foreigner visited Wuhan and so on, LOL)

Yes I have been reading old comments in Twitter from some foreigners who didn't think it would happen to their countries, it boiled down to their sense of superiority
it was only yesterday when I'd been exchanging comments with some American blogger under his blog, until it was clear he wasn't sarcastic while likening COVID-19 to a flu (I then wanted to point to him a number of 9/11 attack victims, but the discussion was taking place during Holy Thursday so I quit)

Well, that would require many countries testing their early samples and compare them with the known Chinese strains. However, I kind of sense that no one will do that... So all those mysterious pneumonia cases will stay mysterious...

"The country reacted early to the outbreak, closing schools, restaurants, theatres and other gathering places more than three weeks ago, and telling people to stay home.

Hospital admissions have stabilised, with the daily percentage increase in infections in low single digits. There have been 319 deaths and 13,337 confirmed cases, of which about 7,000 people are still infected. The study estimated the current number of infections was more than four times that, however, at around 28,500 people. It excluded those in hospital, currently about 1,000 people.

The study, conducted from 1-6 April, tested 1,554 people. It did not involve antibody tests, which can tell whether a person was previously infected and is therefore probably immune. Future studies should involve antibody tests, the government has said, to inform policy as the country starts to reopen shops from 14 April."

I'm now watching Trump's task force press conference and Colonel Birx said they'd tested 2.2 million people in four weeks (hope I got it right it's
