If cured is recovered, then it would appear this virus is more horrific than anyone here originally thought. That's nearly a 50% mortality rate.
i think the mortality rate is 2-3% from various source lower than SARS or MERS. here is one german professor explain it.

It has been mentioned many times here that you can't calculate the MR like that.

Why did you make this misinformation comment? Didn't I just explain what is happening here yesterday? You even gave the explanation a like:

Yes I realise your points about waiting for these curves to change with time as hopefully more of the infected recover. This isn't a very public place at all and we're all relatively like-minded on issues relating to China. My post isn't a fearmongering one designed to alert the masses. Just going by these numbers, we have three distinct groups; dead, recovered, currently infected. Yeah it's not accurate because hopefully those in the third group almost entirely recover in coming weeks and this takes time to reveal itself. Don't think I should have made that post since it's too simplistic and easily misunderstood. Was trying to make the point that it is possible that this trend doesn't change and the recovered numbers stay only slightly ahead of the deaths until the end of the infection.

That is even more unlikely than former, a virus that survives the thousand of degrees reentry of the atmosphere and just so happens to have a similar genetic sequence to a virus endemic in wild life population in China ? Not to mention there was 0 reports of any asteroids falling in China in the past few months.

You’d be surprised what can survive in the vast space and on asteroids even after entering the earth atmosphere...

Anyways, I was only messing around. Sorry...

New research just published suggest that the mortality rate may be higher than generally quoted.

New Lancet paper says coronavirus mortality rate could be as high as 11 per cent

It should be remembered as the research paper caution that a significant population of that study is still in hospital and their outcome is far from certain.

This applies to any discussions about mortality numbers. For example, Wuhan which is the epicenter of the outbreak has consistently been tracking at a 5.5 % mortality rate and that doesn't include a significant portion of the infected population in hospital and their eventual outcome far from certain.

Has there been any public photo or video or presser of President Xi in the last couple days?
