Hong-Kong Protests

Replying to boath PanAsian and PLAwolf, - the art of politics is about the narrative and being seen to be doing something.
For Carrie Lam, the buck stops there and the inability of Legco to function effectively in this crisis, is a function of weak and inept leadership.
When a weak and inept leader becomes part of the issue, you get new blood in stop the hemorrhage of credibility and use that to wrong foot the opposition.

It is the efficiency of the Oppositions Propaganda Wing that makes the Public Enquiry all the more critical. All the claims made by the opposition need to be put under forensic and high profile public scrutiny. No doubt the PanDems will try to make it into a circus, but no matter as long as the CE remains the Ring Master. The CE has the power to set the remit of the inquiry and ensure that all relevant factors are included in the evidence.
This is primarily for the benefit of Hong Kongers as the MSM will; without doubt filter and distort for the International audience.
What is important is for LegCo to retain control of the narrative and start to publicly debunk the claims of now serving district Councillors.
If this is not done and if no Inquiry is instigated, you run the risk of handing LegCo to the PanDems who will crow about starting "the inquiry that Beijing was too scared to allow" and who will make sure that the remit was so skewed that a Salam Witch Trial will look like Jurisprudence by comparison.

It really is time for a new CE and some fancy footwork to retake the initiative and the narrative back in the SAR itself. Forget abroad - nothing will shake the MSM narrative and all you can do is make them lose interest, by drying up the flow of juicy news with not so helpful facts.

That assumes there is a more capable candidate for CE who is willing to take the job and that the process of switching out to a new CE doesn't create a whole new crisis which it is likely to.

obviously not in Hong Kong, but I don't know where to put these allegations:

Chinese city halts crematorium plan but stand-off between police and protesters goes on
  • Huazhou government says it will consult the public on ‘different views’ to proposed development in town of Wenlou
  • Dozens hurt and up to 100 detained following two days of protests, locals say

Chinese riot police fire teargas and beat up protesters in Guangdong province

right now I'm looking for coordinates of that place, I may update this post
You should probably drop it in world news but this is exactly how riots should be handled. They tipped a car and threw firecrackers at the police, so now all roads are shut off and they're locked in for the beating their lifetimes. Don't EVER use force against the police because it will never end will for you. Someone accused the police of beating people like rabid dogs; good! Be scared of these rabid dogs and never give them a reason to come for you. That is the principle of police deterrence of violence by force and it should be the message at the end of every riot.

Your article is comparing apples to oranges which I illustrated using their own information.

The article didn't go into details to explain everything because it is for Hong Kongers. For people who fellow elections in HK, they know the results for previous elections to make comparison. And they know what district council is for before it got politicized.

Your article and the polling it cites are vague and misleading, again I merely pointed that out based on its own information.

And I pointed out you are trying to cherry pick what you like to believe in. Like I said. You still think people are rational. That the truth is important. That violent protests would turn off people. That's why you interpret the article this way.

An inquiry would be used as a political prosecution of the HKPF. A witch hunt that would destroy the HKPF. If the government was not able to refute unsubstantiated rumors and lies, why would you think an inquiry would make any difference. A cult or a group of mobs won't listen to logic.

You are just making excuses for poor polling, reporting, and invalid logic in the article. It has nothing to do with any reader, background info, nor cherry picking on my part. Ultimately both the article and yourself end up selling the anti-government perspective.

At least the article has a poll, election result and previous elections and interviews to support its narrative. What do you have to support yours? You keep accusing me of selling the anti-government perspective just because I don't conform with your narrative. But poll and elections results show that the pan-Dems camp isn't losing any support due to violent protests.

You said most people in HK don't support violent protests. So what, most of the them still voted for pan-Dems camp which support violent protests. You can't deny this fact.

Guys, its all very well discussing about inquiries, etc. Don't get me wrong, it's very interesting. But meanwhile, back on the street. Only minutes ago, the cockroaches are out doing their work, while we discuss the rights and wrongs of the police, etc.

This viedo is a horrific attack only minutes ago with a massive metal pole on an innocent guy who try to clear a path all alone for his car!

When I saw this I thought of the British police with they shoot on sight policy! I thought how great that would be for Hong Kong!

If we are going to do some soul searching of the rights and wrongs, then perhaps we need to find out also how the hell, these students, who normally don't have two pennies to rub in their pockets, all the sudden managed to get all the latest armour, riot gear, etc.

Watch this video on the fundings of these thugs!

China have really, really dropped the ball on these!

Now, I know the rioters are rioting for "FREEDOM"! But surly in any civilised society, this sorts of freedom is illegal!

Discriminatory employment policy. For those who can't read Chinese, it said non-yellow silk (non pan-democrats) need to apply!
