There's no sadly about it. They don't deserve a future.
They'd be in a fix for sure. Fearing the CCP, they'll run to UK, US or Australia but soon enough they'd get mistaken for a mainlander and get profiled in airports, universities and workplace because of the now prevalent sinophobia and fear of Chinese incursion into their nation. Interim measure would be to sport "I'm a HK citizen, CCP go to hell" T shirts and satchels. But soon enough, it is going to get through and wake atleast some of these kids.
It's gonna be funny because they think they stand for a brave cause but Americans look at them like pitiful losers. They don't get told to their faces because you don't want to hurt losers' feelings but deep down, they are pitied for being weak and powerless, coming to the USA to beg for table scrap "freedoms" because they were rejected by the proud champions of their own country. Foreigners with this mentality of running away from their homeland are gently looked down upon and pitied wherever they go and the last thing a man needs is to be pitied.
It is an assault on the dignity of the people and their motherland. Case in point being the Migrant crises that affected Europe. If you checked up pan- African forums/ african people forum/ african nation specific forums , you'd realize that many Africans are ashamed of the fact that their citizens are running away from their (poverty stricken and crumbling) country and thereby bringing further shame and disgrace to the Africans as a people. They term it as an "assault on African dignity " and wished death in the Mediterranean Sea for these migrants who chose to flee rather than help build their country.
