Some of the politicians are using religion for their political aims. Mixing politics with religion is a poisonous and deadly mix as can already be seen. Things can easily turn to thoughts of martyrdom for the gullible inexperienced youngsters.

Because it's all about believing in "god". If only EVERYBODY believes in the Christian lord and savior Jesus Christ than there will be peace in this world. They don't want to see a separate belief system and culture doing better than them. These religious zealots hates the PRC and their communist so badly that they are willing to do anything nefarious to cause chaos under the disguise of human rights. I'm sorry but I don't want to see China turned into another Trump MAGA trash country that sadly the USA has became...full of self righteous people believing that the world revolves around them and their god.

This is exactly where they are wrong. I am not even saying this from a point-of-view that is opposing them. Speaking from a neutral point-of-view, what these mobs are doing only benefits the PRC (their sworn enemy). Because if they really are doing this as a "clash of civilization" kind of confrontation, they are ruining Western Civilization.
Hong Kong in essence is an iteration of the Western Civilization in Asia (particularly in Chinese society). It is basically a society based upon British-origin institutions and the Common Law. Therefore, in any real Civilizational confrontation, what the West would ideally want to do is to make sure Hong Kong has strong stability, while making mainland China society are more volatile and unstable. This is how the Western model win in a Chinese society in the long run. And this is how the west could win in a clash-of-civilization competition with today's China in the long run.
However, this is the opposite of what's happening: making Hong Kong society less stable. This is really beyond my understanding. I have not an iota of clue why the west would want to push for this.

I am more and more perplexed by this unrest in Hong Kong by the day.

The current HK unrest reminds me of the Boxers Rebellion. Both are essentially self-destructive movements cheered on by nearsighted political backers.
@vesicles see below, basically there is no publicly available evidence as to what her injuries are nor how it happened. Of course the anti-government crowd including the woman herself have churned out propaganda based on her unverified and so far unverifiable claims.
The absurdity of the anti-government claims and code are designed to obfuscate as well as fester a sense of exclusivity and paranoia, kool aid for cult members. Good thing is it doesn't give it any more credit to any objective observer.
Also the injured woman and the anti-government crowd she is part of have not presented any evidence to prove their claims.
