That's actually a C7 ZR1 though the article is right in regards to the C8. It's coming out later this year.

I visited the Corvette plant in St. Louis Kwai! it was pretty awesome, so why is it warping the frame?? carbon fibre??? or aluminum???

AAAHHH! Aloominium, should have known, should have gone with a Titanium Welded Center Fuse, like the F-35!!!!!

I love you Man, but here's "prima facie evidence" that China is stealing intellectual property, I mean really??? that's not a Jeep, but its supposed to be a "knock off", China build's everything they can to appeal to a domestic market hungry for the "American" life style... and 25 Grand, its NOT cheap baby, but you should buy one, I bet its the bomb!
I think no one will argue that this is NOT an IP theft knock off but the point is that it has been a few generations since BAIC first introduce the BJ40 and the current BJ40 Plus has got a face-lift. I read that it gets a 2.3T B231R engine which is a Saab H derivative engine. BAIC now has something like 12% share own by Mercedes that it can use some of Mercedes design and that's the reason this BJ-40 Plus has a Mercedes internal.

Further, I think you can't compare price in China to the US market. I heard that the Wrangler costs somewhere around $30,000 in the US. But you need to remember that the US has the cheapest car price in the world. A Wrangler would easily cost $100K in Cambodia while the BJ-40 Plus may cost only $40K. Yeah, less than a half. You know, BJ-40 has been sold as far as your neighbor, Mexico!

Yes and to add to the fun, BJ-40 is a rip-off of Toyota's classic first gen Landcruiser FJ-40 and the retro FJ, they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery?? yes sir, they do! LOL

I wish I could buy you a Jeep Wrangler Steel, I really do! We looked at Jeep Wranglers last summer, but the ones with a tow pkg and a few accouterments were around 30 to 35 Thousand... we ended up with a 2013 Dodge Durango which I officially "hate"! don't get me wrong, has a great interior, a very nice body, nice and clean underneath, but I've always driven GM or Ford, and I just don't like the way it drives! I'm going to buy some new tires for the front, I'm thinking those Geolanders may be part of the issue...

The "Honey Badger loves it! Its a nice size, the interior is black leather, it is very nice, but I wish I had sprung for the Jeep now....

I think you have a point there. Because China came very late in the game, certainly in regards to the auto industry, their populace have gotten acquainted to certain looks and design. Jeep is certainly very unique in the dept not to mentioned a well known history form dating back to the Willys. It's a well known brand dating back decades and one of the most recognizable vehicles ever.
Yes, from our perspective the design looks copied but the truth is it IS. Making the vehicle look anything BUT would be business suicide as that is your target audience. I wouldn't necessarily call it IP theft though because there's nothing inherent in a Wrangler's design that is secret and I do not believe the design has a global patent.

Looong time ago. :)

Yes, back when Corvettes were amazing, think of a 67 with a 427, now that was literally "earth shaking", I just can't get into the newer Vettes, they of course are extremely high performance, but in a somewhat "soulless" pkg.... I want to love em, but I just can't get there....

It's definitely a fundamental change in design philosophy with the mid mounted engine for the C8. I think it will sell well considering most of it's equals cost 2,3 times more. Then again I guess the argument can also be made that someone wanting to buy a Ferrari or McLaren wouldn't even be looking at a Vette.
