Lockheed evolved LCS design for FFG(X) seen in 2018:

Fincantieri FFG(x) design based on the FREMM class:

Austal USA's model of their supersized Independence class Littoral Combat Ship-turned FFG(x) was also on display:

Navantia's turn to show off its FFG(X) design, based on the F-110 class:

only one left, Huntington Ingalls FFG(X) design, we still have yet to see a mature configuration either in model or rendering form

Geez, they are all ugly.

The Navantia design is the most aesthetically tolerable of the four pictured. Still, fingers crossed for the last contender...

LOL noticed some headline about MKS180 earlier this week, but thought those would be corvettes, and wasn't interested ... in fact though "The naval architects calculated a length of around 155 meters for the MKS and a displacement of up to 9,000 tons."

this is probably the headline I saw:
Contenders invited to submit final bids for Germany’s MKS180 project

30FFM will be fitted with 8x anti-ship missiles, a SeaRAM and an helicopter deck + hangar to accommodate an SH-60J helicopter.
rather poor armament level ("According to MHI, the 30FFM multi-mission frigate will have a full load displacement of about 5,500 tons ..."

Lockheed Martin drops out of the FFG(X) competition. No final design of the extended Freedom class frigate design was submitted.

“We reviewed the entire program and obviously, given some of the stuff that has already happened that is outside of the contract for the program – that includes the designation of our combat management system, COMBATSS 21, derived off of Aegis; we have the Mk-41 vertical launch system; the processing for our anti-submarine warfare area; advanced [electronic warfare] and platform integration,” he said.
“As we evaluated all of those different areas, we determined not to pursue, as a prime contractor, the FFG(X) detailed design and construction.”

Bit low for the displacement, but otherwise it seems fine. 6 cells for VL-ASROC (or whatever the Japanese equivalent is), 10 cells for ESSM totalling 40 missiles. And eight anti-ship missiles. Plus the main gun, ASW torpedo launchers and CIWS of course.

It's great what you can do with a capable quad-packable missile.

yeah and once they spend all 16 (sixteen) missiles, which is a really low number considering her displacement, an empty VLS may be displayed all over the circular wall

The previous model had small guns mounted above and behind the bridge, just forward of the main mast. Don't know why they're absent from the current model.
