I do not know about this pilot's specific situation, but some air forces take pilots out of leading edge aircraft platforms once they reach a certain age.
So it might be as simple as that. That the Indians only have younger pilots on the Su-30 MKIs and this guy is old enough that he was put into a less expensive platform. In other countries older pilots are put into transport aircraft even.

Once you get over 30 years old your reflexes start giving in and sometimes you even lose vision. So that's one of the reasons.
Usually you don't see people aged 40 and older on fighter aircraft.

Hi,

No air force down grades pilots without any reason---they always are graded up if the performance is good---.

Then on top of that---his father was a retd air vice marshall---.

Name one country that flies modern aircraft and downgrades pilots to lesser aircraft without reason and whose father is an ex air vice marshall..

Wow you guys are hilarious.

First Indian media uses a pic of their own downed MiG-21 saying it is a PAF F-16.

Then, when Pakistan offers a goodwill release, they say Pakistan was pressured into it with titles like, "How the IAF got our pilot back".

Now you are imagining that a captive prisoner with a swollen eye who just had the blood cleaned off his face moments ago, is being begged by the people who have him under arrest!

You can't make this up. Indians can make even the ugliest defeat sound like a victory... That's the specialty of Indian "power"!

Your western command air marshal was just fired. Does that say to you that the IAF was happy about trading a MiG-21 for an F-16 shoot-down or does that say to you that India was thoroughly humiliated by what really happened? Next time, make your lies look a little more realistic. If you wanted to pretend you got the better of an exchange, at least wait a month before saying your commander retired; don't fire him within 24 hours and still say you won over your opponent.

You don't expect less from a troll. Just wasted my time reading his silly posts. Not you to be clear. The Indian poster.

He's 35 years old from what I read. Countries like India also have a younger population pyramid than a Western country would have. Given such a large recruitment pool why not rotate pilots and make sure people with faster reflexes and better eyesight are piloting the planes?

It's hard to believe you sack an field CO for a single, ~30 years old plane, esp in dog fight it could very likely be that pilot's individual judgment (courage).
If we deem the very first India strike a PR operation, simply for votes, supposedly the result of the strike won't bear any weight in political leader's mind, either. That is, this CO is not sacked for the strike result.
What does that tell us? The score of 2-1, or worse at 2-0, looks more real?
-- my speculation. No intention to bait further flame...

LOL Pakistani & Chinese backed terrorists killed 50 indian soldiers & then they try to hit a brigade HQ & do you think we would just let this slide.

Buddy, that was very uncalled for. Terror attacks, especially from a foreign source can really stir up emotions. I know this 1st hand and I do believe a Nation reserves the right to retaliate. But accusing China of backing terrorists is simply unacceptible.

China is a steadfast ally of the Pakistani government. China provides weapons and tech to the Pakistani military. Pakistan is a major strategic interest for China. But, barring some extreme situation, one thing China will not do is back terrorists or any kind of separatists. Arming and supporting terrorists is a very risky game since they can easily turn on anyone including China itself.

Hi,

Maybe you don't understand---fighter aircraft are not like cars that you jump from one to the other---.

You get what you get and then you learn to train and fly and get ready in one aircraft---. It would take years to be a top performer in an SU30----and if you get old---then you become and instructor or in some other position in the SU30 program---but not get demoted to fly the mig21---.

2 extremely different aircraft---after flying an SU30---I don't believe that a fighter pilot can fly a mig21 or would want to fly one---he would rather be grounded than be seen in a mig21---.---.

Gee.
I already said that's my speculation. I did add that question mark, didn't I?
A statement can be a lie. A speculation can not. It can be wrong. It can be invalid. It can even be disputed as baseless. But how can it be a lie? What's your problem?

Then you have been fooled by the Indian media who have continually lied from day 1

Wing Cmdr Abhinananad was not a Mig 21 pilot he was Su 30 MKI

He was a Su 30 MKI pilot in 2011

When have you seen a F16 pilot graduate to F7?

The opposite happens you move from low end to high end even in India believe it or not

Mig 21 pilot died you can see his body too graphic to post all over the news networks

So much for the “Indian Raptor”

Indian Air OC was sacked from his position for Mig21? Don’t think so

None of this is evidence but rather personal conjecture.

Pilots in air forces are perfectly capable of flying multiple types of aircraft, especially the top ones. Chinese J-20 pilots are also trained on the J-16 or J-10C.
