The PLA has a new large 4x4 all-terrain vehicle either in service or being evaluated. The screen captures show the vehicle being dropped by a transport helicopter. From the looks of it, it can seat four.

Interesting. Looks like a four seater.
Similar to some ATVs from Polaris like MRZR.

Definitely could be useful for air assault

How are ops by a unit using such vehicles performed? It seems the vehicle is good for quick transportation, but is not designed to engage in any sort of combat. So would a safe guess be:

Vehicle is dropped to ground, 4 soldiers enter. A group of vehicles makes up a platoon for example. (perhaps 7-8 vehicles?) Unit moves in vehicles to a designated point, then disembarks. Then perhaps 1 soldier in each vehicle remains a bit further back, where it's more safe. He might watch over the vehicle, keep the vehicle itself out of most of harm's way or may serve as a person to distribute supplies from the vehicle to the forward three soldiers who continue on foot, a bit away from the vehicle, and do combat. That'd mean three person fire teams and probably squads of... 2 or 3 fire teams? Is that a valid way to perform combat operations of such a very light infantry unit?

compared to simple disembarked troops without vehicles, these are certainly much more mobile, and can carry more supplies with them. Potentially even a bit more heavier weaponry, as they don't have to carry it on their person at all times.

Basically two modes.
Hit and run. Drive in dismount and attack mount up get the hell out of there.
Or the military equivalent of a drive by shooting. Sneek up on an enemy facility then roll right through it gunning down anything you see. And keep going.

Very light vehicles like these or Toyota technicals can't stand and fight but they can make a mess. It's keep moving don't stop keep moving keep shooting then try and disappear.

Bigger wheels and a flatbed back for a gunner for a roof mounted gatling, and you have yourself a real life halo warhog.
Already existed the XR311 and the Lamborghini Cheetah aka the "Rambo Lambo" these inspired the GI Joe VAMP that the game makers took direct inspiration from for the Halo M12.

eye balling it is imprecise I admit. But I suspect this is a little bigger then MRZR.
Closer to DAGOR. The recent air show displayed a number of small UTV type vehicles this one looks a little bigger.

One more thing. We are increasingly seeing things like this being built as a pure EV (this one does not appear to be that way). As an electric vehicle, they are extremely quiet and perfect for rapid assault.

EV has some nice features but one HUGE down side.

The advantages of EV are they are quiet, produce less heat and are more efficient at transferring power to the road. The problem is despite this they just don't have the Range. It takes far longer to recharge them to.
Adding to those any accessories that might draw power from the EV batteries will reduce range.
For military vehicles Hybrid drive is the better option you have all the advantages of the EV plus it comes with a built in generator that can kick in to produce more energy for drive or recharge.

EV might actually be superior for special forces operating in enemy territory, especially against near peer adversaries, who can make resupply dangerous and costly.

Under such situations, your spec ops teams will most likely be operating at night and hunkering down during daylight hours.

Get some camouflaged folding solar panels, and your team can have almost unlimited operational range even without any resupply.

Although a hybrid back up would still make sense to give them a range extension option if they are rumbled and need to make a run for it.
