Send 054 frigates (for ASW) and 052s to provide area air defense with both Type 71s to land after bombing whatever atoll they were attacking heavily with land based aircraft. Diesel subs like the Kilos could provide a sub screen and, if necessary Sovs could provide the anti-ship punch for the force that would be absent without a carrier. The Marine Corps has more than enough troops and resources.

However, this operation is very unlikely because there isn't much for China to gain from it and China seems to have moved past the days in which it would snatch territory from its neighbors.

The Iranians have been masters at maintaining and operating equipment that they would otherwise have to retire due to lack of parts, due to the embargo. The Iranians have managed to reverse engineer and build aircraft like the the Bell 206, the Huey, the AH-1 Cobra, etc, and have produced modernization and modification kits for the F-5 Tiger's, produced their own ballistic missiles, copies or modifications of some Russian and Chinese SAM's, copies of Chinese anti-shipping missiles, and finally, their own armoured vehicles.

We always hear the BVR (beyond visual range). So, how far is Visual Range in a clear sky condition?

Depends on how high up you are. On Dec 8th 1941 Japanese pilots claimed they could see the bright unpainted american planes at Clark feild from over 70 miles. The Human eye can spot a match at 20 miles if there is no competing light pollution.

One reason it is always better to attack from out of the sun or form behind is becuase the mk 1 eyeball is a great survelliance device that keys in on movement and things that don't look like they belong.

Say you have a target. What would be easier to evade radar/be more stealthy: a cruise missile or a ICBM warhead?

A cruise missile is fa rmore stealthy able to fly below ground based radar and even ge tlost in the clutter of less advanced airborne systems. An MRV is harder to intercept moving at 15,000 kmph+ but your not going to hide the ionisation around it when it burns in and creates one hell of a radar target to anything that can look high enough.

BTW, around in California all the weather folk aka weathermen use doppler radar systems that can measure windspeed accurately (whether or not the weather people are lying to me is up to debate, and several jokes I might add...). Aside from that, if a doppler radar can detect gusts of wind, shouldn't it be able to detect a supersonic stealth aircraft. I'm sure it would be quite noticeable if you see a gust of wind moving a mach 2 in atmosphere.

Interesting theory, sort of like my idea of detecting nuclear submarines by picking up the increased temperature in the water around them from the water used to cool their reactors. Apparently that won't work.

Anyway, I don't think that the the plane is actually creating a gust of wind. It is moving through the air, not the other way around. Of course the way a wing works (low pressure on top high pressure below) means that there is air movement over the wings because of the high pressure in front of the wing. That is really the only wind-like movement involved in plane moving through the air. But that movement is probably too small to be detected by Doppler radar, especially when the area of disruption is moving around very very fast.

Another perfectly good idea debunked. :coffee:
