I doubt it Kaga was an old Province name, Akagi is a name of a Plateau in line with the present DDG like Atago, Ashigara, Myoko,etc .
As for Zuikaku that is a name for a secret beast like Seiryu.
Kaku means Red-crowned crane, like Ryu another secret beast the Dragon.

JMSDF can easily turn the Izumo into a aircraft carrier they do not need to add ski jump

Without a ski jump even an F-35B would have a very limited payload and range. To make a serious aircraft carrier they would need a catapult and arresting gear, or a ski jump.

Plus I have no idea how long it would take to upgrade the actual surface of the flight deck, which presumably is currently not designed to cope with the heat from the engines of a fighter.

The deck treatment are coming anyway. They are needed for the V22.

They are already treated.
The Hyuga type is only the aft landing pad but for the Izumo type all landing pads are treated for V22 jet wash.

Auhhh,,,, FCS is an acronym for Fire Control System. ESSM is a semi-active homing type missile requiring requiring constant radar lock-on from the ship.
So no ESSM will not work.
