What is the combat endurance time on F-7BG? From what I have heard, F-7s are notoriously known for short combat time. One can always notice Pakistan Air Force's F-7PGs flying with 3 drop tanks during combat missions.

Amid the supposed militarization of disputed areas in the West Philippine Sea, an aircraft belonging to the Chinese military was spotted to have landed at Davao City International Airport last week.

In a Facebook post, military historian and defense analyst Jose Antonio Custodio shared a screenshot of the aircraft, an IL-76 military transport plane, which reportedly belongs to the Chinese People's Liberation Army.

Special Assistant to the President Bong Go on Sunday confirmed the landing of the Chinese military aircraft, but only for refueling.

"The request for landing was received, processed and cleared by relevant Philippine Government agencies. The landing was requested for the specific purpose of refuelling and was granted and given with specific conditions for compliance by the requesting party," he said in a statement.

Go said technical stops of foreign government and commercial planes such as for purposes of refueling are coordinated closely by concerned agencies of the Philippine government following established domestic procedure and considering existing agreements.

"The same courtesy is extended to Philippine government aircrafts when technical stops need to be undertaken," Go said.

"The Department of National Defense, Department of Foreign Affairs and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines—and other relevant agencies—work together to ensure that requesting parties comply with our domestic procedures and requirements," he added.

For his part, Armed Forces of the Philippines spokesperson Colonel Edgard Arevalo said the landing of the aircraft for refurbishment was "legal."

"That being the case, it’s perfectly a legal reason to land in our airports—with appropriate permissions of course from appropriate government agencies," he said in a separate statement.

"That is a privilege also accorded to us in other countries following the same protocols," he added. —Erwin Colcol/KG/BM, GMA News

A K-8W jet trainer of Bangladesh Air Force has crashed into Bookbhora oxbow lake in Jessore Sadar upazila's Deyara union, Killing both pilots..

Two pilots of Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) were killed last night when training aircraft they were flying in crashed into a water body in Jessore.

The K-8W being flown by Squadron Leader Md Serajul Islam and Squadron Leader Enayet Kabir Polash crashed into a baor, or oxbow lake in Jessore Sadar upazila around 9:20pm, Rezaul Karim Shammee, assistant director of ISPR told the UNB.

Jessore Airport Manager Alamgir Pathan told the Dhaka Tribune the aircraft had crashed into the Bookbhora oxbow lake in Sadar upazila's Deyara union.

ISPR's AD Rezaul said the Chinese-made K-8W had taken off from BAF Base Matiur Rahman on a night training mission.

A rescue mission is underway and a high level committee has been formed for an inquiry, he added.

Deyara Union Parishad Chairman Anisur Rahman said the plane had crashed into the lake, which is adjacent to Faridpur village.

“There is raining in the area,” he added.

Locals Rasel and Rabiul Islam told journalists gathered at the spot that sometime after 9pm, the plane crashed into the Bookbhora lake with a deafening sound. Several local fishermen moved towards the plane with boats.

Several units from the Fire Service Jessore station and ambulances from local hospitals rushed to the spot as the news of the accident spread. But the vehicles could not get close to the lake due to bad roads.

The rescuers crossed 3km on foot before reaching Bookbhora, and began their operations on boat.

Shahidul Islam, a journalist who is at the spot, told the Dhaka Tribune the rescuers were there by 10:30pm. Locals did not wait around, rather took several boats and began to help with the recovery of the plane.

Hundreds of villagers also gathered around the lake.

According to locals the site of the accident is southwest of Arichapur Bazarghat. Journalist Saiful Islam, who is at the spot, said the plane had crashed about 200 metres from the lake's shore.

There was jet fuel on the surface of the water. According to various sources the depth of the lake is about 26 feet. The water is higher now due to monsoon.

Yes, they have been upgraded.

But they do not meet modern standards in terms of being able to stand toe to toe with any of the well maintained 4th geeration aricraft that are all over the world now...much less the new 5th geeration aircraft coing out.

So yes...there are a lot of Mig-21 or their derivitives out there...but they are incapable to standing against any serious conteners for air space.

They are good for keeping rebels within their own countries under control...and for fighting other 3rd world countries wth the same types of hardware...but that's about it.

Still...something is better than nothing.

Malaysia continues to face Russia-produced fighter aircraft problems

38232043_936248086545686_2658042336214253568_n.jpg

Malaysia’s Defence Minister Mohamad Sabu has confirmed that country’s Air Force continues to facemaintenance problems and a lack ofspare parts of its Russian-made fighter jet fleet, according to a report in The Star Online newspaper on 31 July.

According to the newspaper, the Defence Minister said that only four out of the 28 Russia-produced fighters jets owned by the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) are able to take to the skies.

Usually, a certain number of aircraft are on the ground for maintenance and servicing in relation to the total fleet. But RMAF is faced with the maintenance problems of its Sukhoi Su-30MKM and MiG-29 fighter jets. The number of serviceable aircraft dropped sharply and there is no way to quickly bring them back into the sky.

To date, the RMAF had 18 Sukhoi Su-30MKM and ten Mikoyan MiG-29 fighter aircraft.

“Only four of the Sukhois are able to fly well,” said Defence Minister, adding that the remaining 14 are under repair.

In his reply during the motion of thanks on the royal address in Parliament Tuesday (July 31), Mohamed Sabu said the RMAF was unable to properly maintain the fighter jets’ airworthiness.

He said the Defence Ministry had terminated the contractor engaged by the former administration and was looking at replacing them with local contractors.
