Although I don't play any video games, I agree that the Knights of the Old Republic, Knights of the Eternal Throne and Knights of the Fallen Empire have a very good story. IMO, story arc of KotET and KotFE alone would be enough for a live action trilogy. The people behind the SW games clearly know how to write a good story. Thankfully there are people that are willing to make their own movies via in-game cinematics. Unfortunately, there's no way Disney would ever let go of the creative process. Sadly two of America's iconic franchises, Star Wars and Star Trek, have gone done the sewer. SW:TLJ was the last time I payed to watch it on the silver screen. I'm glad I didn't bother to watch the latest Disney garbage. Time to walk away, and look for something else.

Now there's talk that Disney might stop aiming for at least one Star Wars movie a year because of Solo's poor performance. There's also talk of making Star Wars movies like the Marvel Cinematic Universe where they're all connected with a common over-arching plot. Problem is they're making movies about the past. Also they have to get rid of Kathleen Kennedy and JJ Abrams. Frankly they should completely eject Force Awakens and Last Jedi from canon and start over.

AKA cash grab...

Here are the issues,
1) you didn't need to see it. Star Wars is episodic and each episode is an event. Solo is not part of that. It really wasn't necessary
2) production was a known Mess. We had been hearing about the infighting in Solo so we knew it was in trouble and this effected everything.
2.5) They only released trailers 3 months before the movie. Which comes into part point 2 and part point 3. If it's a Star wars movie Start the marketing SOONEST!! don't wait get attention especially because of when it launched.
3) Poor Timing!! REALLY POOR TIMING. lets review yeah. Marvel Infinity Wars, Deadpool 2 and Solo.
Fans of Starwars tend to be fans of comics to so you have 3 movies that are trying to cannibalize the same audience. This was stupid on all three parts Never force your audience into a quandary of which fandom to watch, had Solo launched the same week as nothing but romantic comedies it would have been golden. but by putting it back to back against Deadpool 2 and Infinity wars.

I don’t think it’s the timing. This is the beginning of the summer blockbuster season, when it is normal and expected to have one blockbuster after another.

I am a huge Star Wars fan and have watched most of the new Star Wars movies on the premiere weekend. Even with the first 3 episode, I didn’t like them, especially the first 2 episodes, but still wanted to see them as soon as they came out.

I actually like the latest Episodes 7 and 8. However, I am getting a little tired of it. For instance, I didn’t drop everything and run to the theater to see the Episode 8 on its opening weekend, which has not happened before. I liked it but was not excited about it.

The main issue is with the subject matter. I still believe that their problem is that everything in the franchise is about the same characters and the same story line in the original series. It’s the same people doing the same thing every time. It’s a little exhausting... You already know what would happen and how it would happen even before seeing the movie. When everything becomes so predictable, where does the excitement come from?

Can you think of even a single new idea in the latest episodes 7 and 8? Nothing. It’s like watching a reboot, not new movies. If they can keep doing this and still make movie, I would say they keep adding sons/daughters and grandsons/grand daughters of the Skywalkers to make episodes 20-30.

They need to introduce new ideas and new conflicts in a completely new environment to keep it fresh. The MCU is successful because they are doing exactly this. In addition to completely different characters, every series has its own background and its own story line and its own unique premise, even though they are all about superheroes. That’s why many of these comics have lasted over half a century.

The Star Wars need to do the same.

Well to be fair Star Wars stories are always be based between powers of the Empire and the Republic and Rebellion with established galaxies and aliens already intermingled with humans. Now as compare to Star Trek, they are more of a discovery of planets and aliens species through out the galaxies. It has far more potential with different story lines and challenges.

To be honest, I’ve never liked Star Trek. Its premise of exploring new planets in each episode sounds boring to me. It’s too disjointed to me. I have never liked those shows that tell a new story in each episode, like those detective shows. I’ve always been more interested in shows that have a central story and continuously evolve like a long movie, like the Game of Throne, Americans, or Homeland or those new Netflix shows like Daredevil.

I think being limited exclusively to the conflict between the Empire and the rebellion is exactly the problem. They’ve put themselves in a box that they can’t escape.

If you look at those long running comics, each series has its own universe, complete with its own heroes and villains. They intersect from time to time, but most of the time they tackle their own problems.

Even within each universe, they change things up to come up with new challenges to keep things interesting. Just imagine how boring it would be to have Batman vs. Joker for every book. To keep things interesting, they came up all sorts of enemies for Batman. Some of them are aliens that have laser eyes and some of them are ordinary gangsters who are super smart and super twisted. Every time, you wonder how Batman can beat his foes.

You don’t need to go far to get a good example. CW channel must have a dozen shows within the DC universe. Each one deals with its own things and sometimes they crossover. I follow every one of them closely. I’m hooked and not bored at all. The same goes with Netflix that now has more than half dozen MCU shows. Every one of them is awesome. I enjoy every one of them.

Star Wars is the only one that’s so predictable. No matter what they put out, you know it’s about the Empire vs the alliance. And you know it’s going to have a Jedi leading the Alliance and a Sith Lord leading the empire. It’s the same story over and over again, only with new faces and new names. They can’t even make a nonhuman the main character.

I love reading the alt-right's spin on this and they do seem to find it important to use Star Wars as an example. So many YouTube videos on Star Wars using alt-right talking points lingo. They seem to be claiming that the original trilogy was pro-right-wing American politics and that's why Star Wars movies are failing now because the movies have gone off course. Well if you want to interject George Lucas' politics, he wasn't right-wing. And what's more obvious from the original trilogy is the Empire was a bunch of white "human" supremacists and sexist. Let's ignore that most obvious fact and try to interpret the rebellion holds the same values as the alt-right today.

Star wars was not political it's barely Scifi. It's Fantasy!
The lost minstrels who find a Squire who finds a teacher wizard/knight who teaches the Squire to become a Knight, saves a Princess with the help of a pirate. They Battle an evil Empire lead by a dark vampire like Wizard with a black knight escape to find a goodly Kingdom in need of nights and Slay a Dragon. It's a Fairy Tail with a mix of World War 2.

Star War has a religious take to Christianity in the form of the "force" and "may the force be with you" are in conjunction to "may the Lord be with you" and such as in faith.
