The Russian UN Ambassador laid out his argument that seems to state that the attack was a farce. And added a heavy load of insinuating that the US and it's Allies we're in charge of the whole war.
The US ambassador laid out that this was the sixth event, that to the US government it was satisfied with the intelligence it had gathered proving that the event was real and Syria was responsible.
The UK ambassador laid out more or less the same and the French agreed.

Russia called for a UN Security council emergency meeting. Reportedly Putin is personally insuilted by the actions of The US, UK and France.
Expect more Rhetoric and vetos as 4 Permanent members of the security councils but heads.

That is no different from NATO members fighting for each others. Treaty obligations. Russia has that with Syria, Iran is invited. "Pro Syrian" posters here do not object NATO defense pack. But you seems object Russian defending Syrian government. Do you have a concrete principle?

Of course, nobody expected Russian resolution to pass. Neither should anybody expect the US, UK, French resolution to pass. Vetos are not monopoly of the three just like the globe is not their backyard.

P.S. at this moment, it is already known that the Russian resolution was vetoed by the three.

Imho, Russia won't launch any retaliatory strikes. Hell, if they're not willing to take out Saudi Arabia's oil production and export installations in order to save their own economy (a task they could accomplish easily, by the way), just what would motivate them to launch a major air operation?

Large-scale explosion reported at Iranian base in Syria
Arabic-language media say unidentified jet struck weapons depot near Aleppo, comes less than 24 hours after airstrikes by US, Britain, France

A large-scale explosion has been reported at an Iranian weapons depot in Syria, according to Arabic-language media reports.

The depot, said to be one of the biggest in the country, is located in Mount Azzan, near the suburbs of Aleppo.

Sky News reported that the explosion was caused by an aerial strike, and further said the area had been previously been evacuated for fear of an American attack.
The report comes less than 24 hours after the US, Britain, and France launched a series of airstrikes on a number of military targets belonging to the Assad regime during a joint operation overnight Friday-Saturday.

The targets included a scientific research facility near Damascus, a chemical weapons storage facility west of the city of Homs, and a third location near Homs that contained both a command post and a chemical weapons equipment storage facility, the US military said.

The facilities hit had however reportedly been evacuated in recent days.

The airstrikes came in response to a suspected chemical weapons attack in the rebel-held town of Douma on April 7, which is said to have killed some 40 people, including children

Syrian state media reported only three people injured, while Russia’s defense ministry said there were “no victims” among Syrian civilians and military personnel.

The strikes were targeted to inflict maximum damage on sites linked to chemical weapons development. A top Pentagon official, Lieutenant General Kenneth McKenzie, said the action would set back Syria’s chemical weapons program “for years.”

On Saturday, the UN Security Council rejected a resolution put forward by Russia condemning the strikes by the US, Britain, and France.

The three countries defended the action at an emergency council meeting Saturday, with the US vowing to take further action should the Assad regime launch another attack using weapons of mass destruction.

US President Donald Trump announced the joint action against Assad’s regime from the White House late Friday. He said the strikes were a direct response to the attack on Douma.

“The evil and the despicable attack left mothers and fathers, infants and children thrashing in pain and gasping for air. These are not the actions of a man. They are crimes of a monster instead,” Trump said.

Israel on Saturday welcomed the strikes against Syria, with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Saturday saying Israel “fully supports” the military action against Syrian military targets.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Saturday, Netanyahu said, “A year ago, I made clear that Israel fully supports the decision by [US] President [Donald] Trump to stand against the use and spread of chemical weapons,” referring to American strikes against the Syrian regime in April 2017 after a sarin gas attack on a rebel-held town.

“Trump’s resolve and Israel’s support remain unchanged,” Netanyahu said.

“This morning, under American leadership, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom demonstrated that their commitment to the fight against chemical weapons is not limited to declarations,” he went on.

Netanyahu said that it should be “clear to President Assad that “his reckless efforts to acquire and use weapons of mass destruction, his wanton disregard for international law and his provision of a forward base for Iran and its proxies endanger Syria.”

I don't think it must be the Russians bombing SDF (which was what SampanViking said that you respond to).

Big powers don't shoot each other directly, that is the basic rule to prevent a WWIII. Instead, there can be (and probably has been) local fighters targetting someone on the eastern side of Syria. Like this claim
