Its raining 052E designs in fandom CGI.

This one has a UHF AESA similar to what we have seen in land units before, looking like a SMART-L here. This one has the Type 057 frigate mast.

I like these the most. It tells you how to get a two helo hanger off the 052x hull. This has the center mast patterned after the alleged Type 054B's radar, which I presume might be a rotating 3D air search radar on the radome, with X-band arrays underneath it. But what does this offer that's any better or cheaper than the 055's integrated mast?

Sometimes I wonder if its necessary to discard the 052D's mechanical radars, the combination of Type 344, 364 and 366, and I don't feel the 052D radar set up is obsolete. Retaining it may save on costs. Instead, the improvements be focused on the hull, adding the IEP and the twin hanger setup, with the reduced infrared and radar signature of the 055's funnel setup.

It looks like he virtually duplicated the 055's twin hangers on the 052E.

the 052E concept looks just like baby 055

The fan CG 052E has a copy of the 055's hanger. I didn't really understand the motivation behind the 052C/D's single hanger where on the roof, you have this large ridge on top that is made to clear a large door that is higher than the main roof on both sides of the ridge. This was obviously meant to carry some sort of a large and tall helicopter, and I don't think that is a Z-9 type.

I didn't understand why they just didn't bother to extend that ridge so the entire roof has flat out the same height as the top of the ridge, to allow for two 'large' helicopter which I suspect might be for the Ka-28 Helix specifically. Or if they choose not to go with the Helix anymore, and just use Z-9s, remove the ridge and the single tall door, put two shorter doors instead and move the HQ-10 to the back above the doors instead of being on top of the ridge and near the aft VLS. A Type 051B/C can have two helicopter hangers with nearly as much beam length as the 052C/D with one, so this isn't a question whether the 052C/D can have two hangers, its what that single hanger is supposed to be for.

That's great point. the largest driver of cost increase for 055 compare to 052D must be radar suites. steel is cheap, the tonnage increase shouldn't be that expensive.

The 055 will be built in number. It will be the premier first line AAW ship of the PLAN. That position belong to the 052D when it was designed. instead of concentrating on trying to improve the AAW performance of the next generation of 052, one should ask the question what is the purpose of 052E in a PLAN that has 055.

What I would do is to keep that existing 052D mast configuration. Delete the long wave mechanical radar all together. Put in the double hanger as illustrated above. with the increase real estate from the deleted long wave radar, put in the newer style funnel superstructure. and maybe add more VLS. and last but not least, add IEPS please.
What you get is a more general purpose ship. Rather like the Arleigh Burke class for PLAN. A ship for long distance deployment while concentrating the 055s in home water.

I've seen the figure of 26 Type-052D class planned on Wikipedia. I know Wikipedia can be useful but is not always reliable and info from there should be taken with a grain of salt. Is there any independent confirmation of that number?
