The relative lack of power generation capacity on the Arleigh Burke class is one reason why the railgun at Dahlgren won't get sea trials for a long time.

Presumably, we should see a USN effort to test a railgun at sea once the Future Surface Combatant project goes into high gear (say, five years down the road).

If I'm understanding this correctly, he was told by someone of importance that 8x Type 055s aren't enough, and that at least 13 or 14 will be built in the short term.

The Type 055A is more or less confirmed, and a build quantity already planned for, so he can't say how many 055s there actually will be.
I would be surprised if, at this point, they built anything less than 16.

How sure are we of this image and the pennant. it looks somewhat PS'd to me.

I am anxious to see what the pennant number is.

I am the only one I know of here in the states who has a model of the Type 055 in 1/350 scale and I got chatter indicating 180, which is what I gave her, but will gladly change that to whatever it is:

Beautifully made with loving care Jeff.
Too bad I'm in China or I'd make you an offer to buy up your PLAN models. They'd never survive the trip to here.
