By the way ... did you also hear the latest rumours about a twin-seater J-20-development??

And what do you think about it?

Deino

The rumour's source said it was a J-20 designed to be a command node for UAVs. It could just be a modified single-seat J-20 that houses additional communications equipment. There's no guarantee that it is a two-seater.

It is only inevitable given that J-10, J-11, and JF-17 all ended up with twin-seater variants. However, I think reports of it being carrier-based are far fetched.

I like the idea, I think its always nice to have "tu-holer", just to have a little help on the work-load,,, I like the F-4, F-14, F-15, and F-16, F-18,, but you do lose some performance, and I would think you risk having your RCS climb more than might be imagined??

but,,, it ain't gonna happen! I hope they prove me wrong.... but I really don't think it will? J-20, FC-31, SU-57, F-22, F-35 are all single seat, and except for the Indians stated desire for a two seat PAK-FA, (that's not gonna happen either), nobody has even shown us a viable sketch of a two seat stretch?

now Deino, will probably prove me wrong?? and I hope you do when it comes to "sketches or proposals"??

Is the two seater rumored to be just a dual control conversion trainer with operational capability, or a true two seater where one of the seats is occupied by a weapons system officer?

All the new 5 Gens are actually easy to fly, even the F-35B, the FCS is like have a co-pilot, so I'm rather certain J-20, FC-31, SU-57, like the F-35 and F-22 are "pussy-cats", having a two seat trainer for this level of aircraft is no longer deemed a necessity, but the same really couldn't be said for the F-4, Mig-21s etc, they were heavy and they flew very hot, with a high lift-off speeds and even higher approach speeds...

I don't know about the F-18, but the F-4 and the F-14 had NO flight controls in the back, the USAF F-4 had a throttle and stick, so that it could be flown, but no rudder pedals, so they really didn't intend for anyone to take off or land from the back pit, although at least one F-4 was landed by the Whizzo....

Wizzos in superbugs don't have flight controls. Same with the growlers.

In the only context this was mentioned, the two seater was discussed to be a control center of drones, like the

. So people just speculate the WSO is controlling the drones. However, keep in mind this is the rumor laying on another round of rumor, there is no say the two seater will ever be made or even finished design. Such PLA Navy/AF doctrine will first need to be developed.
