It's probably just for some artistic humor. You can even buy a baked clay version of a toddler that can do the real water fountain tricks for you (involving using both cold and hot water). This could be where the artist get the idea from.

Still no "Winchester" for the J-20? lots and lots of rivets,,, those wing juncture features create quite a little vortex activity all by themselves, he's slow and full slat deployment to create additional lift for maneuvering!
Really curious USA do error with F-4 without gun fixed later with a gun pod super sophisticated F-22 have one even in futur combats with normaly a short game less important remains interesting as last weapons and if the driver runs out of missiles ... so little disadvantage for J-20

Yes J-20 without gun is a big surprise for me as well. Perhaps they will add it one day and there is enough of a space for future application with higher thrust engines. In the meantime, J-20 without a gun shows PLAAF is supremely confident of its BVR abilities and probably do not plan to ever use such an expensive asset as anything but a scout, shoot, and run type of fighter. I doubt VLO fighters are that effective at evasion. Why would the Americans put guns on both F-35 and F-22. J-20 needs a gun even more considering its current missile load is smaller than F-22.

I think it is likely that they are waiting for WS-15 before they integrate a gun or maybe even a high tech equivalent. Maybe they don't think the additional weight justifies it on variant one.

A gun is not heavy about 100 - 150 kgs + rounds maybe 200 - 300

Also indispensable for the sky police to make warning shots against a civilian plane China had severals fighters types with enough units but normaly a new fighter as J-20 must be also capable for it make sense

One thing we know for absolute certain is that they won't be using J-20 to do those usual intercepts. There is almost no point to use a VLO platform for this kind of job when you don't need the surprise or the stealth.

It's not the gun that's heavy, it is the ammunition and in the case of a stealth fighter, the mechanism used to retract the gun once it's done firing.

Well, a gun, in theory, could be loaded into the side weapons bay as a pod. It's not an optimum solution, certainly, but it saves a bit of weight.
