The recent Doklam standoff had propelled China to perfect its strategy in its western part, experts said on Saturday on a forum.

China used to have loopholes in the western part of the country, but the Doklam standoff compelled China to cover it up. We should thank India for this, Peng Guangqian, a major general and strategist at the Academy of Military Sciences, told the audience at the Global Times annual meeting in Beijing.

Zhao Xiaozhuo, a research fellow at the Academy of Military Sciences of the People's Liberation Army (PLA), said that the root cause of friction between India and China is from "India's precautions."

India takes China's Tibet as a buffer zone which is off-limits to exploitation. That's why India reacted strongly when China built a railway, air passage and highway in Tibet, Zhao said.

India never takes road construction as an opportunity, and knows nothing about connectivity, and only thinks about its own interest, Zhao noted.

India's precautions would eventually damage bilateral relations if it does not learn its lesson, Zhao added.

Based on recent events, the notion of "dragon vs. elephant" has become a fact, although it is not the path that China and India choose to go, said Atul Dalakoti, the Executive Director of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

Dalakoti's comments were echoed by Zhang Jiadong, a professor at the Center for South Asian Studies of Fudan University.

"The dragon vs. the elephant" should be a good thing for both China and India, which means the two countries run on the global stage. But India regards "challenging China and containing China in Asia" as its strategy, Zhang said.

India has forced itself to become one of China's strategic targets, Zhang added.

When Dalakoti questioned "whether China seeks hegemonism after 30 years of development," he received a strong response from Chinese experts.

"Neither India nor China is able to dominate Asia," Liu Youfa, China's former consul general in Mumbai said.

China is still far from being developed. The country just managed to alleviate poverty and will take three more years to overcome poverty, Liu said.

"China is not aiming for global domination. Chinese leaders did not say such words," Liu explained.

However, Bali Ram Deepak, a professor at Jawaharlal Nehru University's Center of Chinese and Southeast Asian Studies, took a milder approach, saying "there is competition and cooperation between India and China. The two countries are not friends nor enemies."

On the Doklam standoff, Deepak said the problem is "China undermines India and India also does not take China seriously."

The irony is Indian does not want Chinese troop anywhere near to their Silaguri land bridge. But by creating this silly incident invoking Bhutan Indian security arrangement. They realized their worst nightmare. Where there was no Chinese present before .Now the Chinese built a forward position on the border

The Indian need to learn from the Russian have a good faith, negotiate and settle the border forever Make it zone of peace ,trade and friendship

I don't know what is your problem peace is certainly better than war China and Russia are both great nation with long civilization
Border is always the source of contention But both nation are mature enough and self confidence enought to settle their dispute peacefully and instead wallowing in resentment, hate , anger and past dispute , they look for future and win win relationship.

By negotiating in good faith in the spirit of give and take they did settle the border dispute and gain the fruit of peace in term of better trade and connectivity, people to people contact and joint prosperity Yes the Russian after initial misgiving they give the go ahead for better ralationship with China Trade double and quadruple. Putin visit China frequently and vice versa They even open the new bridge for car and railway The first in the annal of both country Where there were suspicion now there is trust. Hey people even start inter marry in the border area. Many young Russian find good job in China and vice versa

OK I'll answer: it's not my imminent problem LOL anyway I talked in a pub here to a young Russian guy, who I know is reasonable and who comes from the region of Siberia adjacent to China, and he described Chinese activities in said area in the way which would be consistent with the notion of:
gelbe gefahr
that's why I think what you were posting here this evening is pure propaganda

India and China have pledged here to develop stable and healthy bilateral relations to contribute to regional and world stability and development.

Modi said India is willing to joint hands with China to enhance mutual beneficiary cooperation so as to develop stable and healthy bilateral ties which is conducive to regional and world stability and development.

For his part, Yang said Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Indian prime minister have met for several times in recent years, which has played a strategic leading role for the development of bilateral relations.

China is ready to work together with India to strengthen strategic communication, promote strategic mutual trust and broaden pragmatic cooperation in all sectors to become good neighbors, who coexist peacefully, and good friends, who collaborate sincerely to revitalize their countries, in a bid to make important contribution to stability and prosperity in Asia and the world at large, Yang said.
