One of the major changes applied was to reduce the pressure in the boiler pipes, in order to prevent boilers from operating systematically in over-drive mode when the vessel exceeds 18 knots, a problem that was present on its sistership, the Russian aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov.
What does that do for the power of the boilers and what does it mean for the design of the turbines? Have the turbines been replaced by newly designed ones?

The Varyag didn' t have propulsion installed towed by Chinese from Nickolayev , all is new.

All Russians or Soviet carriers have propulsion problems and same case for Sovremenyy never or almost deployed.

No, several Chinese reports published in line of the launch of the Type 002 carrier corrected that. The vessel had its engines already installed and preserved in grease ...

Let's put it this way Liaoning has been out at sea more times than Kuznetzov They said they make 1000 improvement over Kutz It was all over the Chinese media and picked up by the western media. I wouldn't surprise if they did because they spend close to a decade analyzing , tinkering and improve the Varyag. Sofar we haven't had any major accident of snafu. For sure all the electronic, radar,CWIS are top rate

of this training mission, and CCTV-7 published a video, focusing on the Liaoning propulsion system, a rarely covered topic.

When the ex-Varyag was sold to China, propulsion systems were the few parts of the ship that remained in a proper state. The Chinese engineers then analyzed all the systems and implemented more than 1,000 modifications in order to improve the stability, the reliability and the overall performance of the propulsion.

How do you reduce pressure in boiler pipes without reducing pressure of steam delivered to the turbines? If you reduce pressure to the turbines, how can you not reduce the power output of the turbines unless you use much larger turbines?
