India plans to purchase 108 Sukhoi T-50

New Dehli, India has just taken a step forward in the acquisition of the Sukhoi T-50 (PAK-FA). Indeed, an internal commission of the Ministry of Defense recommended the purchase of the T-50 aircraft via the initial co-production plan with Russia.

The internal committee, headed by the retired Indian Air Force Marshal, Simhakutty Varthaman, after studying the technical parameters, recommended India to acquire the Sukhoi T-50 Indo-Russian, India is planning to commit more than $ 5 billion to the joint development of the PAK-FA.

The preliminary development agreement that was signed in 2010 between the United Aircraft Corporation of Russia and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited of India.

In addition, India is preparing a firm order of 108 Sukhoi T-50 combat aircraft that will be handed over when accepting the final version of the agreement being prepared, "said an Indian Air official Force (IAF).

Latest preparations:
India and Russia have not yet finalized the share of work for the production and transfer of technology. Currently the Indian Ministry of Defense is working with Russia on the sharing of labor and technology transfer, while the IAF is involved in finalizing operational requirements and the number of fighters, said Daljit Singh, a former marshal and defense.

absolutely no doubt about that, none! I'd say LockMart will build the F-16 in India, hoping to roll the Indian's onto the F-35, which isn't nearly as sexy looking as PAK-FA, but is likely much better sensor fused and up to snuff for real life as a 5 Gen combat aircraft, we'll see??

and who knows whether or not the US will even sell the F-35 to India??

latest airshow at Kubinke

Su-57 at minute 14 onwards

Nice airshow, and the SU-57 tail chase is a nice illustration of this aircrafts slow speed maneuverability, like the F-35, it has very superior aerodynamic characteristics, and appears to fly very well in the second edition, your earlier post quoted someone as saying the FCS was also updated in the LRIP aircraft, interesting, as well as acknowledging the initial structural issues with the -1 aircraft..

I'd like a detailed explanation of the structural weakness of the -1, as well as particulars on how the -2 rectified those, its always fascinating to me to note that even with the best engineering in the world, that equipment will find any means possible to fail, at the worse possible time, and almost always, deep within the structure where you would have sworn it could never fail.. such is the nature of high performance aircraft!

hello brat, brat in Russian is brother.

Up to what i know, T-50-5, was fixed, T-50-6 is new, T-50-7 is a static structural prototype, if i am not wrong there are two static test beds T-50-07 and T-50-00.

So T-50-05 was fixed as originally Sukhoi said.

The current Su-57 can not super cruise as fast as F-22, it reaches Mach 1.3, well behind the Raptor, perhaps Su-35 is as fast or a bit slower when it supercruises than Su-57.

the reason to cut production is Su-35 very likely can supercruise as fast as the Su-57 or very close to it, having the same engine, (almost the same engine because it is just a variant) it flies the whole envelope from post stall to turn rates at combat weight very close to PAKFA.

So it is not very smart to buy many until type 30 engine starts production post 2020.

I guess we will need to wait until 2024 to see a good book to know in detail the history of the design.

the say type 30 might have stealth features, i do not know if it is a flat nozzle or just wedges like F-35's nozzles
