Can anyone tell where were each tornament held and who won each?

Of course this is good news for the chinese army and congrats for it. Even without the western armies participating, to won half of the tournaments its no easy feat. However can we translate any conclusion based on that to the entire army?

I assume that the guys who won are the best of the best, trained to the limit. I cant speak nothing more about it, because i have no ideia about the state of the chinese army training. If we could get an exercice with a large force, we could get a more broader picture of it.

I don't think the crews sent to the International Army Games are necessarily the best of the best in the PLA.

The best PLA units are most likely training at Zhurihe currently in the Stride exercises or are deployed along the Korean or Indian borders, but this is more rational thinking than evidence. However, I'm still 99% sure that the tank crews sent to the games are from the Western Theater Command, which while capable, isn't the best, that'll probably go to either the Central or Northern Theater Commands.

From what I've heard one of the teams participated in the game last year but another consisted entirely of new recruits Either way I don'the think that the tank biathlon is reflective of the threats China will face in the near future. There should be a greater emphasis on target acquisition and elimination with kinetic energy penetrator instead of HEAT rounds.

Agreed, and isn't that one of the major criticisms of the games themselves? That they're kind of pointless since they don't simulate real war conditions.

They are not pointless because they are better suited for the threats the Russian Army faces.

Is the Type 96 in the same tier or class of generation as T-72 variants?

If India sent her T-90, isn't it unfair ??? That's like equivalent to Type 99?

Why is India allowed to send T-90?

You can send whichever tank you want, India was considering sending the Arjun, for example. The T-90 is a heavily modified T72, so still in the same class, and really not substantially better than a heavily upgraded T72 like the T72B3M. Arjun would've been more of an equivalent to Type 99 with both being in the mid to high 50 ton range.

They stated the distance of targets being 1.6km and thereabouts but on the footage, all targets seemed to be no more than a few hundred metres away, at most 1km. Either that or the targets were absolutely enormous. Unbelievable how many misses for such seemingly easy shots. If we look at K2 practice shots, they get hits on moving targets while moving at distances of up to 2km away. Am I missing something?

You can't accurately tell distance from zoomed video footage. If they said it was 1.6km, just take it to be 1.6km. Occam's razor is rarely wrong.

As for the shortfall with NATO-spec guns, it's a problem inherent to the 2A46 family which has compromised accuracy beyond 2km. It's why the ZTZ-99/A uses the indigenous ZPT-98, patterned after NATO guns, as opposed to the much cheaper 2A46M-derivative mounted on ZTZ-96/A/Bs.
