Extra flat fighter unusual, now with a budget which going for decrease AF can' t afford this one in number before enough long time and reasons why they have buy a 2nd Su-35 batch and not impossible one other or Su-30SM which are 30 - 50 % less expensives

This is the final product? Always wondered if they will make it more stealthy in the conventional sense. I know it's very difficult to judge RCS from looking at it, but doesn't seem like VLO. Maybe the russians know they won't need it and this level of signature reduction is sufficient for its purposes.

Is there absolute consensus among keen observers on the capacity of internal bay? I really really doubt it has side bays. Those two things look FAR too small to support short range missiles. How does the mechanism open and function? There's something similar looking on the J-20 so maybe it's for housing electronics, control arms or something other than missiles. Are they for next gen micro missiles? If so, they've never shown how it works and opened them up despite russians showing off their equipment as soon as they are completed or being tested. The central bays also look like they can't support any more than 4 total MRAAMs. J-20 can't support more either. Chinese and Russian missiles are usually larger for similar ranges. Maybe next gen micro missiles and larger ARM, AShM, and small air launched cruise missiles can be carried in there but not 6 MRAAMs.
it has 4 weapons bays, it can carry several weapons in the weapons bays but in limited numbers, very likely 6 to 8 air to air missiles, some air to ground weapon types, but also in small amounts.

the PAKFA you are looking now is not the final version, it is just an early variant with weak engines, better than Su-35 just by better stealth and sensors but at a much higher price

Yeah let's give them the benefit of the doubt. The Russians know what they are doing. And at least the Indians bought it. Maybe the US propaganda is not necessarily the only solution on stealth.

Russia’s fifth-generation fighter jet, formerly known as the Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation (PAK FA), or Sukhoi T-50, has officially been named the Su-57. RIA Novosti contributor Andrei Kots takes a look at the evolution of Russia’s premier fighter jet.

that the latest T-50-11 or the earlier T-50-10 variants of the original T-50 will inherit the onboard equipment of the T-50-9, which conducted its maiden flight on April 24, 2017.

The United Aircraft Corporation’s CEO, Yuri Slyusarev, earlier said that the initial batch of 12 such planes will be supplied to the Aerospace Forces in 2019.

Initial Tests

Presented to President Vladimir Putin in 2014, the scaled-down model of the T-50 was a combination of the latest technological know-how for the Sukhoi Su-47 and MiG-1.44 prospective fighter jets, designed back in the Soviet days.

with a plane that would be up to par with its Western counterparts.

Since its first flight in the early 2010s, the T-50 has receiving a vast series of upgrades to its avionics, stealth and armaments, Andrei Kots wrote.

The T-50-1 prototype took to the skies on January 29, 2010, and the T-50-2 followed suit on March 3, 2011. After 40 successful flight tests the

T-50-2 took part in the MAKS 2011 air show. Before taking off, however, one of its engines caught fire forcing the pilot to abort. Engineers fixed the faulty engine and the T-50-2 flight tests resumed.

The T-50-3 flew on July 24, 2012. Unlike its predecessors, the new prototype carried onboard active phased-array radar. In December 2012, the T-50-4 took to the skies with the same radar array on board. Both prototypes proved fast and highly maneuverable and their state-of-the-art radar systems worked perfectly.
Second Stage

The T-50-6, T-50-8 and T-50-9 (maiden flights in April 2015, November 2016 and April 2017, respectively) were second-stage prototypes, enabling the use of upgraded AL-41F1 engines, similar to the ones powering the Su-35 fighters.

The second-stage engine, dubbed “Item 30,” will feature a new fan and control mechanism; it will be more fuel-efficient and will have greater endurance.

A pilot version of the second-stage PAK FA with a new engine is slated to fly later this year.

The T-50-6, T-50-8 and T-50-9 also have stronger airframes, bigger wingspans and make wider use of composite materials.

are proceeding at full swing. Everything is going well. We are already testing in-flight missile launches and the plane is performing just fine,” Aerospace Forces Commander Viktor Bondarev told reported on the sidelines of the MAKS 2015 airshow.

All Set for Mass Production

In July, Viktor Bondarev said that the construction of the highly appraised ninth, 10th and 11th prototypes of the Su-57 was slated to begin shortly.

"I see no physiological limits whatsoever for PAK FA pilots. The designers are working to make sure that much of the pilot’s work is done by the plane itself,” Bondarev added.

With six Su-57s scheduled for delivery to the Aerospace Forces by next year, with mass production beginning shortly afterwards, Andrei Kots concluded.

Yes I agree that LO technology evolves. Su-57 is a beautiful looking fighter. I wonder how they managed to fit missiles in those tiny looking side bays. Does anyone have actual images of them opening like we do with J-20's side bays?

As for VLO, photonics based radars in coming decades will change the game again. Not wise to spend billions on acquiring massive numbers of fifth gen, probably why the Americans cut back on F-22 and involved so many countries in F-35.

Best strategy for air superiority and SEAD seems to be investing in next gen drones and munitions but that's another discussion. Su-57 has always been a stunner and should be a capable platform. Pity it's also going to the Indians.

I wonder how the development of WS-15 and Project-30 is going for these new fifth gen fighters. China and Russia is so lagging in engine technology. F119 came out more than a decade ago. F135 and F136 are already mature platforms.

Was agreeing until that last phrase...

I guess it's not the best place to discuss this but the FGFA has to do with the T-50 and india is increasingly becoming a extremely nationalistic state that can really one day be using this machine for its intended purposes.

On this topic, any updates on how the FGFA will be turning out? So far we haven't seen any two seater versions. I understand the Indians and Russians have reached new agreements re this program. Wonder when they'll be receiving deliveries.
