Fake Helios pictures identified
Flight International online news 11:30 GMT: Hoax photographs purporting to be pictures taken from the cockpit of a Lockheed Martin F-16 as it intercepted the Helios Airways Boeing 737-300 that crashed near Athens on 14 August have been circulated on the internet.

Flight International has identified the pictures as high-quality fakes as they show a Helios 737-800, rather than the -300 that crashed. Efforts to disguise this have been made by doctoring the registration to that of the crashed aircraft.

The other key giveaways that the aircraft is an -800 rather than a -300, are the twin overwing exits, its fuselage length and trailing edge configuration.

Like the German CV! If only... about time they started pulling their weight. My little 'doodle' came about because like most engineers, I can't leave anything alone for long! The original, although looking very futuristic to the uninitiated was an axial deck design with no catapults or ski jumps. And they expected us to believe J-10s and SU-33s could just do a rolling takeoff? Why didn't everyone else think of that! Needn't have wasted all that time and effort developing catapult technology. The truth is no one has designed and built an axial deck carrier without catapults since WW2, with good reason, and I wish I could get copyright on that pic because I'm sure it will appear elsewhere now...

The Fake Helios pic, despite being high quality, is in very poor taste with no regard for the relatives of those on board and I hope whoever faked it grows a conscience soon, or else a pair of horns on their head so we can see them coming...

I agree 100%. All aboard were killed on that day. And the situation is nothing to make light of. Some people have no conscience.

It is as bad as the fake pic susposdly taken at the top of the WTC just seconds before the aircraft impact.

I remember that guy; he was known as the tourist of death! Quite a few pics of him at the scenes of disasters appeared in the following months. If the first one had been a different setting, say one that did not involve such a huge loss of life, then perhaps it might have been funny, but context is everything and some things should not be the subject of humour.

You do realize that that is only a Abrams tank with a extra turret PSed on to the top of the main turret right? Of course its not real. Something like that would be way too heavy.
