Things are getting a bit too interesting near the PRC-DPRK border.

Nice to see them wearing the newest Type 15 body-armor, officially presented first during the 70th Anniversary of WWII Parade in 2015. These soldiers should really belong to elite troops.

This is a nice answer for those who still question PLA's supposed lack of protection for their soldiers. They do issue vests to their front line troops. First we saw those photos of their peacekeepers. Then we see these photos.

It was mentioned just before your message the troops at the checkpoint were from elite units, so are non-elite troops also issued best protection and gear too?

Well, I guess the key words in my post would be "front line troops". As many have suggested long time ago, we had not seen PLA soldiers wearing vests was because they were not in war. What we have been seeing lately supports this view very much. ALL of the PLA troops who are either on the front line or in potential danger, including the peacekeeping combat units, engineering units and NK border patrols, have vests. This is the point that I was making.

It's not about elite vs nonelite, but about practicality. The peacekeeping engineering unit that we saw couple weeks ago is certainly not elite combat unit. They are engineers not combat soldiers. They are not even expected to face any actual fighting. I would imagine their combat training should certainly be less than ordinary PLA soldiers. Yet, their vests have been upgraded twice.

So again, not about elite vs nonelite but whether they will face danger. This has been what many have been proposing and what we have seen supports this view. All I'm saying.
