I think this was either posted in the "Chinese Military Export" or "Zhuhai Airshow", but very interesting none of the less. I wonder what happened to the QS and FN line of the man-portable missile. I haven't heard much news on those.

I thing the above man-portable missile is for export only. It seems PLA quite happy with the performance of FN-6/FN-16 or the much improved HN-6 ... and honestly I don't think anybody is willing to wage a land war on Chinese soil with China

HQ 16B with extended range of 50km entered service. The main difference is the dual seeker semi active radar with IIR maybe?

After a year and a half of development, the first HQ-16A test shot took place on November 13, 2006, in which two missiles were fired.

Until his admission to active service in the Chinese Army around 2009, the HQ-16A project totaled 29 test shots including 28 successes. As early as 2006, the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology (SAST), a designer of HQ-16 and a subsidiary of the Chinese aerospace group CASC, embarked on pre-studies of two improved versions of HQ-16 - one for the navy that became the HQ-16C after the 12th Five-Year Plan, and the other for the HQ-16B Army.

The biggest change on this new version Ground-Air is concerning its guidance. The former semi-active radar guidance mode (SARH) is now replaced by a more semi-active active mixed guidance.


When the HQ-16A radar tracking and firing line can only ensure a range of about 30km, the new dual-mode of HQ-16B should extend its range, which is now estimated at more than 50km.
