@popeye You ask at one time if the Liaoning did fire drill. Well I can't find video that show Liaoning did firedrill. But it is standard in PLAN I believe as shown in this footage about fire drill in Submarine

Let me clarify.. I just want to see the fire drill. I'm sure they've done it. I just want to see how well they are trained.

Thanks for posting.

That's most perplexing actually, because firstly this defies all previous opinion that they have yet get a proper carrier-borne AWACS platform, and this setup is just for concept-proving purpose; next the mockup don't mimic the wing folding feature that'd be a requirement; thirdly how'd adding a pair of jet engines (fixed? JATO/RATO kit?) would make launch without catapult assist possible? Just think about the payload capacity those two engines would take away...

But...if they've actually decided on how big the AWACS will be, and given the mockup facility is to concept-proving stuff that'll find its way onto future ships, it could be merely a data-gathering study.
Here are more pics:

The aircraft depicted in those pictures has the right size and outward cnfiguration for a arrier borne, CATAUKT launched AEW aircraft.

Whether or not it willbe the one I cannot say at this point...but it is certainly closer to anything else I have seen tus far from the PLA for a PLAN AEW aircraft for their CATOBAR carriers.

We've talked about it for a long time...now we are seeing something that could fill the bill.

In a nutshell, it's to test out if they can viably cramp the AWACS package into a platform of the size envision for the carrier-borne AWACS. The plane itself is still a land-based Y-7, the tail is of necessary modification due to the big dish, and the landing gear is still the standard ones, not carrier-operation adapted that is.

Dimension wise the closest thing the Chinese have on hand would be the Y-7, that's all. In the end, this exercise was to lay out the requirements for a new plane design.

Good...they are making good progress.

The size looks good (though I do not know the weight), and the dish, if designed properly, will give them a tremendous increase over the helo solution they now have.
