Not the same gun actually. USP is like a cousin smaller, more options less specialized. Mk23 is built for suppressed use and use by USSocom. USP is a general sidearm.

But why the Disconcerted looking Solder at the bottom?

Barrel is a little long, but if you compare this to other weapons introduced in the last decade chambering 7.62x51mm This is about what a modern battle rifle looks like.

and again not that far off from other modern rifles.
you have an adjustable folding stock, Keymod Rail Ambi controls, the Flat Dark earth color, Flip up irons.

My bad, I forgot to check if it was already posted. Though, the picture did happen to catch my eye, as I have never seen any PLA regulars with optics like that on their rifles. Come to think of it, the only times I've seen PLA regulars equipped with imported/cloned foreign weapon attachments are the Peacekeepers in South Sudan. Is it safe to assume that the units deployed in South Sudan are acting as guinea pigs to test weapon attachments?

Sorry Could not resist. but historically modifications like that start during deployments abroad. The US Special forces first in Vietnam Then with rail mounted In Iraq, The Japanese who deployed units to Iraq as logistics units also tested Rails scopes and accessories on the Type 89.

Now that said, I was mostly just responding as The Change seemed abrupt from the new rifles to the soldier. You never bothered to caption. Which made me think you were using that last image as a Reaction of "Wait what about my bullpup?"
We have seen some scopes on Type 95 Rifles in the past yes but mostly in Show settings almost never in training environments. So I under reacted.

I guess the gold plated handles are for some guys with too much $ lol
Texture look like matt, so I don't think it's gold-plated but sand colored.
Glocks are fine but I'm more of a Sig kinda guy.. Although my dream sidearm is still the hk usp.
Then the recent US Army bid picked P320 should be music to your ears I think? Daymn that thing has insane possibilities for customization, like the only serialised piece is the trigger block, and just about everything else can be swapped out, the knowhow requirement level is field-stripping the pistol...

Mk-23 Mod 0 is a reliable kit, alas it's end-user found it not as ideal…fault lies in USSOCOM original tender requirement, H&K simply delivered it per-spec.
