ztz-96B must have gotten a bad image from last year´s biathlon incident (a brand new tank with a fractured axis?). Now china will have to work hard to restore confidence in ztz-96 and even in their tank industry in general.

Anyone have pictures of Type-88A tanks (welded turret + and what looked like 105 gun) in PLA service? I watched an Tianamen documentary in Finnish television few years ago and for my surprise I noticed few Type-88's guarding a bridge.

I think they could be Type-59-IIs armed with the L7 105mm guns.
