PLA Ground Forces news, pics and videos

I am pretty much the first time the Liaoning will be operationally deployed will be during a humanitarian disaster relief op.

The J15 pilots will have to stay at home, but the carrier should be good to go at short notice for such a mission.

It will be a great opportunity to test the ship and crew for intensive operations in real world situations without the downsides of people shooting at you; had politics or bad blood from bombing and killing people. It will also generate a lot of goodwill.

The US does that all the time. Clear a Carrier of fighters load up on helicopters and C3 Greyhounds. Carriers have a very large sickbay and there onboard stores are perfect for haulling food water and other disaster needs

Maybe when China has more carriers, escorts, and support ships on hand and tensions are low enough among China's flashpoints that they won't be needed for combat close to home.

The US does that because it has plenty of carrier groups all over the world all the time anyways, it also uses its LHDs for the same purpose.

Said to be used for simulating "camp defence", but I'm guessing (and hoping) that it's just an excuse to play some Counter Strike.

The only thing I can think of is to teach better communication and reduce their impulse to charge and attack. I think games is a great teaching to soldiers that this is no movie and don't be a hero. You get shot everywhere when you make a wrong move.
