The MEKO most probably cost three times that of the C28, can't really compare apples to oranges. A better comparison would be between the 054A and the MEKO A200 and even that I am sure the 054A would come out cheaper. Now the question ask is, does Algeria really need such a high tech ship bristling with such weaponry when it's immediate problem is the ongoing Islamic terrorist threat.

After possible have more exact price with SIPRI but include support, training and impossible or almost have a unitary cost in more boring i am not here for money...

Chinese build cheaper and now since severals years do some good armaments but Western able to provide armament of quality in more customers in general have more confidence.

Did I get you right Jura, a billion dollars a ship? OMG. If I am not wrong Australia paid 4 to 6 hundred million Aussie dollars for theirs more then a decade ago and Forbin's quote of 327 million dollars per ship is too low even without spares or training. How quickly we forgot when terrorist massacred all those tourist and brought Algeria's economy to it's knees. Well at the end of the day it is their call.

• note it's the total price (with weapons from various vendors etc. and likely with some extended maintenance etc.), and the final price (the usual trick is to "offer upgrades" which means to make the gear actually useful in combat once the customer paid again, but here the Germans are responsible for the whole package to work which is to be tested in Algeria ASAP, at least that's how I (miss)understood the deal)

Clearly, Algeria believes it needs it.

...and when you look at the buildup of other nation's navies in the Med, it is understandable why they would, even if they do not at the moment have any conflict going on with any of them.

Former IAF Su-30K destined for Angola has been overhauled
The first Su-30K that is being overhauled by Belarus’ 558th Aircraft Repair Plant has flown recently. A total of 12 aircraft are to be delivered to Angola.

A contract was placed in 2013 for those aircraft that were returned by India. Back in the 1990s, Irkut supplied 18 examples to India as a interim solution while the latter wait for the Su-30MKI to be delivered.
