they say the pilot bailed out, was recovered, is OK (EDIT they even have said something like he's ready to fulfill new assignments ... I wonder if it's possible, to almost get killed one day and fly the next one??)

... I may update this post based on what I find in Russian Internet; for now, here's USNI News:

What assignment can he take on? It's not like they have a spare Mig-29 on board

True, but how many MiG-29K's are available? That's the only kind that can use Adm K.
Technically, even ones onboard aren't really. Neither Migs, nor regiment.
But after this deployment there will be no opportunity for several years.

It may, Ofc, be possible to cooperate with Indian Navy(on Vikramaditya), but I've never heard of such development yet.

Btw, rusty bucket of a carrier now is in action(starting this morning).
