F-22 Raptor Thread

The Raptor will not meet a peer for a long time, probably not until folks begin to get serious about a six gen bird, possibly not even then. To understand this phenomena you would have to have intimate knowledge of the design process of the Raptor, forged in the heart of the "KOLD WAR"? and it was designed to be a "singing sword?" sweet, and strong..
Yes...the Raptor is the Sea Wolf of the skies.

There is still no peer for the Sea Wolf SSN to this day, like there is no real peer for the F-22. They were crafted and forged to be the best for the Cold War scenarios, and to remain the best for decades.

Like the Raptor, they were built in very small numbers (three).

The Virginia's are good...very good. And they benefited from the Sea Wolff as the F-35 has benefited from the Raptor.

In the end we fond that those newer animals which we ultimately designed to be a lower cost alternative, became as expensive as if we have kept on building the original articles!

But that is the way it goes. Elections matter very much here in the west and we have to deal with that reality and make the most of it.

In the end, I am confidant that the F-35s and Virginia's will be world class themselves and completely hold their own for the foreseeable future.

But the Raptors and Sea wolfs of this world will soldier on throughout most of their life times and be equally paramount.

To understand this phenomena you would have to have intimate knowledge of the design process of the Raptor, forged in the heart of the "KOLD WAR"? and it was designed to be a "singing sword?" sweet, and strong. So, if we can get an A team back in leadership, we will be OK.

I think the full capabilities of the Raptor remain highly unappreciated for a good reason. It is rumoured that 50 % of its capabilities remain classified and there is no way to understand its capabilities unless you actually know what they are.

It also reminds me in the same way as with the F-35. There are a lot of criticism outside the system but every interview I have noted with military personnel who has access to the classified information is highly satisfied with its capabilities.

LOL it's SDF here so
China military able to detect U.S. F-22 stealth fighter jets, military expert says
The Chinese military is able to detect U.S. F-22 stealth fighter jets, according to a Chinese military expert in an interview for a CCTV program.

Several fighters from East China Sea Fleet patrolled around the Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) over the East China Sea after receiving orders that unidentified tracking occurred near the ADIZ on the morning of Feb. 10, according to a report on PLA Daily on Feb. 11.

The report said that helicopters from a carrier-based helicopter brigade along with the carrier patrolled around the area and missiles were set on fighters on duty at nearby military airports which were prepared to take off for combat. However the report did not disclose which country the objects belong to or other relevant information.

Some Western media guessed that the unidentified objects might be the U.S. F-22 stealth fighter jets. Chinese military expert Yin Zhuo told Asia Today that if the unidentified objects appearing near ADIZ over the East China Sea turned out to be F-22 from the U.S., it would be a good opportunity for China's military to practice its ability to find, identify and intercept stealth fighters.

Does China's military have the ability to find and identify stealth fighters? Military experts said that new type of Chinese Phased Array Radar is able to fulfill this task. Yin also said that F-22 is not totally stealth and meter-wave radar could detect the fighter. Radars arranged towards the East China Sea are able to find the F-22 stealth fighter jets, according to Yin. Besides, airborne early warning and control aircraft like KJ-2000 and KJ-500 are also equipped with the ability to detect stealth fighter jets.

I don't know, but that article mentioned so perhaps "flying" was missing LOL!
Jokes aside. The article appears to be two distinct subject stringed into a story. There is no credible content from the story as to what was detected. That would be consistent with the capabilities of early warning radar. It is then assumed that it could be a F-22. That is simply speculation. The main problem I have with the story is the loose interchange in usage between detection and tracking. They are miles apart in meaning and if they were able to track, the contents of the story would be significantly different.

The Raptor was designed with inter-operability in mind, if it were a conventional aircraft? those numbers would be so what? but the Raptor was always a force multiplier, and it will function very well with the far more numerous? (we hope) F-35s. A couple 2 to 4 Raptors change things immeasurably, and they function quite well in an AWACs roll, being rapidly able to switch roles according to General Hawk Carlisle.

They don' t get same missions and for A2A F-22 do air dominance, F-35 air superiority less able.

But stealth " passive " do not last indefinitely maybe active as plasma can help, some rumors B-2 have ???
Remains very interesting used EW aircrafts as USN and after, soon RAAF doing with EA-18G in combined airstrikes especialy.
