Potentially catastrophic storm, Hurricane Patricia, about to hit Mexican Coast:

View attachment 20487

Two potentially helpful things with the landing is that, 1), the storm is fairly tightly wound, meaning the high winds do not extend as far out from the eye as they otherwise might, and 2), the eye looks to becoming ashore in a relatively unpopulated area between Puerto Vallarta and Acapulco.

But though the storm will weaken quickly in terms of winds, the heavy moisture is going to be extreme in Texas, and then later in the Ohio Valley.

You guys in Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and up towards Dallas...watch this storm and be careful.

Uuugghhh, there's going to be flooding in Houston on Saturday and Sunday.:(

So far, thank goodness, damage, injury, and death from hurricane Patricia has been amazingly light. I am sure there will be more as we get reports out of Mexico, but we can be thankful for the light nature thus far.

We are ok in Cedar Park, but the rest of Central Texas seems to be suffering.

Obviously it was some kind of dispute that resulted in a physical altercations , in which it has NOTHING to do with mainland tourists mannerism. I don't know why every time there's a story with Chinese mainland in Hong Kong does the article has to bring up about "tensions" into the story.

Just toeing the party line.

Repeat a lie enough times and people starts believing it.

American tourists get a bad rep as well, would any western paper dream of dredging that up as some lame pathetic excuse to excuse or justify a non-provoked fatal attack on an American tourist?

It didn't flood much at all in Houston as in comparison to the previous Memorial Day holiday.

Whats Memorial day for?.... The Alamo?
We are celebrating Labour Day which is essentially the Forty Hour working week.I cant understand what for because unless you are a Banker or Lawyer those sort of hours have long gone. Also a lot of households need to have two working parents to help make ends meet.

Memorial day is a Nation-wide US holiday dedicated to the memory of all those who have died in wars while serving in the military protecting the nation. It is observed every year on the last Monday in May.

While in Texas they remember Texas Independence Day (March 2, 1836), and certainly remember the Alamo and those lost there...that is not a part of the official Memorial Day holiday. When I was a kid growing up in Texas in the 1950s and 1960s, March 6th (the day the Alamo fell) was recognized as Alamo Day...but it was not an official Holiday.
