This thread will be about the best air force general of World War II. We will develop a list of ten generals, and they can be from any of the involved nations, and then add a poll to the thread once that is done. Ground force Generals and Admirals will have their own threads.

Dang...well the SD poll is limited to ten. Each thread will have to limit itself accordingly.

Colonel
I would rank LeMay up there as one of the 'best' in terms of being a general from a standpoint of tactician and strategies and just getting things done in general.

As a human though, he is a SOB and at times I'd imagined frighteningly evil but since I've never met the man personally I can only guess lol though I've seen old footage/documentaries of him.

Regardless, war is hell and there are those who argue you may have to become a monster to accomplish your objective during conflict. There is do doubt he played a significant role in the Pacific war... and he also contributed a lot to SAC in post war years.

Let's just say that if we have a LeMay in our ranks today and he has the support of POTUS and Congress, Al Queda/ ISIS etc would be eliminated... but there will also be a huge price to pay in the aftermath.
