Moderator Note:

This thread will be about the best ground force general of World War II. We will develop a list of twenty generals, and they can be from any of the involved nations, and then add a poll to the thread once that is done. Air Force Generals and Admirals will have their own thread.

Guys, I decided to create a separate thread for this.

There are so many good generals. We could add President Teddy Roosevelt's son, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., who was awarded the Medal of Honor and who died of a heart attack not long after the D-Day invasions.

I think we should maybe have the top 20 listed.

Numerous British, German Russian, America, Australian, Chinese (Nationalist and Communist) Japanese, etc. generals that could be listed..

How could we leave out Admirals? Or should that be a separate thread? Say the top ten Admirals.

I mean with Halsey, Nimitz, Cunningham, Doenitz, Spruance, Yamamoto...wow, some great names there too.
