Sharkie, Whether Technical or Human Error. I think Almost every one is of the Opinion that the Stall was not a planed event. Also The Whole affair could have been avoided by not pushing the Untested machines into the spotlight.
From the political situation right now it is very understandable.

If it did break down then they would need to make repairs, no one made repairs ...
The announcer said it was a "planned" event. Do you honestly believe that?

Look, those tanks had not even gone through quals yet. This was a PR stunt...and that is fine, but when you drive unqualified equipment out in front of the whole world...this is sometimes what you get.

The thing stopped while driving on the flattest, least harsh terrain possible. Then they had a tough time even towing it away.

'Nuff said. Call it whatever you want.

>>>>>Use of Deity Name Removed <<<<<...it was already explained very well. Nothing broke down, the driver who was untrained paniced and holt the vehicle with mountain breaks, without the necessary action to release it he worsened it by going in trying everything expect what was necessary. The BREM-1M vehicle could not tow it because it had its breaks in. Hard to tow something that weigths above 50 tons with breaks in. A driver from UVZ had realized what was the problem and drove the vehicle from own power. If anything would break it would not be able to drive from own power without repairs. No technical problems just unwise decision to use tank drivers who have not been trained on such vehicles instead of what UVZ has proposed to use their drivers which know what they are doing.

black Shark, His point is not how it happened but the poor cover of the event. That the reported Announcement that it was all "part of the show" was a unbelievable cover. that the failed towing made it look all the worse.
We Accept, That the Russian Crews were in new vehicles and had not gone through the proper training on them.
That the Recovery Vehicle Crews likely were not trained to tow such a new and unique peice of Equipment.
That the most likely cause seems to have been Human Error. But Where that error rests it seems is different.
The Russians wish to place it at the Tank crew. However To expect a Military vehicle in a military victory parade not to be driven by military personal seems rather obtuse and almost comical. Are the UVZ drivers to lead the charge into battle as well? Are the Honorary military Horsemen at state events to be replaced with professional horsemen?

Jeff's point and My own has been that this was totally avoidable. That rather then blaming the Man who was trying to do his job despite a handicap. Responsibility should be with the Man who was supposed to ensure that the Tank crew was trained or failing that, that if they were not prepared then they should not have been placed in such a position.

"If the Meal is cold, do you blame the food or the cook?"

Now I believe this Horse is sufficiently beaten to prove it is dead.

The combat strength of Russia’s Strategic Missile Forces at the turn of 2019-2020 will be increased to 13 missile divisions by means of creating a joint formation with the Barguzin rail-mobile intercontinental ballistic missile systems, a source in the Russian General Staff told TASS on Thursday.

At this point, the Strategic Missile Forces comprise 12 missile divisions, which are combined in three missile armies.

"In 2019-2020 it is planned to commission the Barguzin rail-mobile ICBM system that will entail the emergence of a new military formation with this missile system, which will increase the RVSN combat strength up to 13 missile divisions," the source said. He said that making operational the RS-26 light intercontinental ballistic missile and the heavy missile Sarmat would not change the Strategic Missile Forces’ combat strength, as they will replace the old missiles Topol and Voyevoda.

TASS has got no official confirmation to these reports yet.

According to previous reports, a Barguzin battalion set is planned to comprise five missile regiments, each of which will be armed with six RS-24 Yars-based intercontinental ballistic missiles. The new systems are expected to become operational no earlier than 2018 and will remain in service until at least 2040. Former Chief of the Strategic Missile Forces General Staff Viktor Yesin said previously that the creation of Barguzin was Russia’s response to the deployment of the American global missile defence system.

Barguzin’s predecessors - Soviet rail-mobile missile systems - were removed from service in 2005. The New START Treaty does not ban the creation of such weapons.
