Yep he was right. Sorry I thought it was a satcom terminal at first, but they're actually larger and much wider in shape than IR jammers like how the VMT1220HE are bigger than the ALQ-144 jammer of the S-70 UH-60L variant.

China has given Pakistan 3 Z-10's as a "gift". I suppose this is a win win for both. pakistan needs the helicopters and China needs combat data to improve the design of future versions.

A number of news outlets have been reporting this since Friday and some are saying that they are in transit onboard Chinese cargo plane let's wait and see as we have heard these type of deals before

I have been waiting for picture none so far but Turkey agreed to give 3 units of T-129 to Pakistan so China doing that with Z-10 is not out of the ordinary

I hope this news is true and these units are used as test bed for test and evaluation before a final order of 50-60 x Z-10 is put in

In addition I hope pakistan establishes like a production line similar to JF-17 but for Z-10 attack helos

I am sure such a deal would also benefit China as it would provide a steady stream of data and analysis from a Z-10 in combat

What to make of this improved variant of the Z-10. From this photo it does seem to have a modified sensor suite.

What do you mean ?

Details like the lower tail fin/tail gear housing, and the shape of the canopy, look like the prototype WZ-10, not a later variant of the production one.

The prototype version had a sensor turret that looked like that too.

To admit me too I'm not sure ... especially the out of sequence red serial 1014 could indicate a pre-serial batch.

Maybe the original ball-like turret also noted on the prototype was later replaced by an interim system we know on all serial Z-10s and now it reappears in an upgraded version.

However on the other side this aircraft seems to have the IR jammer installed. .... really strange.
