09III/09IV (093/094) Nuclear Submarine Thread

if it is just 16, it is quite dissapointing. you wont be able to saturate even a single Aegis DDG with merely 16.

Fortunately submarines are armed with torpedoes as well.

I think you will find that Chinese submarine-based VLS is more on the American model of providing land-attack capability than the (old) Soviet model of anti-carrier operations. Indeed 093G for the first time offers China the ability to strike around the globe with conventional (non-ICBM/SLBM) weapons.

Still, I think the pictures demonstrate that there are three 093Gs (or is it 093B) in various stages of completion, similar to what that chart from a week or so ago said.
What the heck are you talking about? I'm referring to the diagram that someone drew up. There were 3 photos: 1 of a diagram, 2nd with 2 boats and 3rd with another boat. That diagram doesn't have a hump when all evidence point to a hump in this class. As for the images of the boat themselves, I don't have complete data to judge either way.

The clip talks about the new 093G length is 104 to 105meters versus the original 093 length of 98 meter. The increased length is due to VLS system hosting both LACM and AShM.

When have these sources from Taiwanese magazines ever been right?

Any particular reason why "G" is used to to designate this improved version?
Not particular reasons and we don't know the actual designation. I'm just using 093G to indicate it's an improved version.

Confirm 093 construction finish before 095.

If this 093G exist, maybe new designation ? but less long as 093 105 m vs 110 m then for get 18 VLS maybe more large.

Just to clear it up, I don't know what the designation is. And it's also very hard to measure their length based on satellite photos we have access to like Google earth, because we really don't know exactly how much of the submarine is surfaced. So I can't really dispute anything with regard to length of submarine based on photos I have. But based on what I've seen, I think there is an improved variant and it has some form of hump. Not sure if it's for VLS. I don't know how you determine how many VLS cell they have based on photos. As for the number of sub they are building, I would at this point only take what I see on photos and on DoD reports as real evidences.

It's pretty much of a bad idea to use wiki as a source for Chinese military stuffs we don't know much about, because anyone can post anything on there and claims they are using some sources.

What do you even mean? I'm not talking about the diagram/drawing, I'm talking about the satellite pictures when I say "pictures"

The post of yours I'm referring to is here https://www.sinodefenceforum.com/chinese-shipbuilding-industry.t2294/page-29#post-325014
In other words, I think those satellite pictures qualifies as the definitive proof you wanted

you are right, I think i got confused there over the post you are referring to.

My position now after looking through everything and reviewing my past photos is that there are 4 093Bs. Yes, that's the designation I used previously, so I'm going back to it. One is still in dry docks and 2 other are launched at Huludao based on satellite photos. It looks like they have a hump, although I'm not 100% sure. There was a 093B launched and at the shipyard back in 2013, but that left for sea trials sometimes in 2013 and 2014. That submarine might still be out on sea trials or could be one of the 2 that are parked at Huludao. No 093B is at any of the naval bases at the moment.

What we see at Huludao right now are actually three different boats.
The one in the drydock is not identical to the eastern boat in the water.
The boat in the drydock is sligthly longer and the distance between sail and bow is shorter, moreover the sail is different. This could be 095.
The eastern one in the water is clearly a 093 mod. It has a sonar pipe along the hull much like the US boats and it is different from the one just next to it which is a standard 093 (maybe returned for overhaul)
Cheers

BTW: Bing has better images showing 093mod & 094
