For an aircraft that size---you will also have a massive aesa radar as well and massive jamming capabilities---. Even though it would be a slow lumbering target---the BVR missiles designed for it could also be double the size of the current BVR missiles which may give it twice the range and with larger and stronger seeker heads----basically putting it out of the reach of the opponents missiles..
PLAAF will have to think out of the box to counter what the U S allies or the U S would be putting up against it in the air.
There's a reason why they made the J-20. The strategy you're proposing doesn't work against VLO targets.

Very informative article, it confirms some key points on the timeline of J20's AESA:
Pre-research stage, “九五”(around 1996-2000).
Prototype stage, no later than 2000, they've begun making a early prototype.
In 2009/2010 the project was awarded by the company and governments, so the radar finished no later than 2009.
This is not a PLAAF vs USAF thread. It's a J-20 thread. Please take your proposal to another thread.

This is why I think it will be useful to have a master post or at least a thread naming and/or discussing the reliable sources and the typical non reliable sources from which everyone sources their info and pics from... It'll help new members get their bearings quicker and contribute to the conversation faster and maybe even cause some mainstream media to reassess what's useful and what isn't for PLA matters given how many of their breakthroughs are often indirectly sourced from here...

The original source is reliable. Things posted on sina are not necessarily so.
I guess I wasn't obvious with my original reply, but I have shifted it to J-10B already, which means I consider original to be reliable. Please continue the discussion there or in a radar related thread.
