How many J20 will PLA need in total? Any idea? I heard that Japan will acquire At Least 42 F35s only for the replacement of F-4. Considering F-15Js replacement, I would say at least 150+ F35s or other 5th Gen fighters are required.

Considering the F-35's price and the JSDF's budget. Japan won't be able to have 150 F-35 for a while. Same goes with India's PAK-FA.
So I don't think China would have the need to have over 100 J-20s within the next 8 years.

India will hopefully acquire 220 Su-50 in the near future, which is quite a lot considering their overall defense budget ;)
lllchairmanlll, we strong discourage any kind of China vs india or China vs Japan. Seeing that you are a new member here, please stick to J-20 and not used that to bring in what Japan or India might do.

ok thx for heads up. Still, comparing J20 with F35 or Su50 is allowed, right?

nothing wrong with comparing the capabilities and technical aspect of the aircraft. It's when you get into China vs Japan or China vs US or China vs India, that's discouraged, because those kind of discussions go downward really fast.

Very nice pic... but I think it is just me... I still like J-31 appearance more. Somehow the J-20 doesn't looked as appealing (look only, I am very sure that it is an extremely capable aircraft, and once it flown in WS-15 - which I assume would give it supercruise capability, the aircraft would be even more powerful.) to me as compared to the J-31 :)

I myself do prefer J-20's looks. Its unconventional aerofoil (aka wing/canard/tail) placement are and probably will remain unique among 5th generation fighters for many years to come. And I also like J-20s somewhat long appearance, which some people have stated they dislike -- to me it gives off the impression that J-20 has the endurance to leave, do its mission, come home, all without needing crutches of air refuelling.
