That is nonsense. PLA is never superstitious. Plus, "4" is only an unlucky # among people speaking Cantonese because of how the number is pronounced in Cantonese. "4" has never been a bad # to Chinese who speak Mandarin. In fact, one of the main dishes served on traditional Chinese weddings is called "4 happy meatballs". #4 only became "bad" after the 90's when popular culture in Hong Kong became famous in the Mainland. The PLA would never follow such nonsense superstition.

Plus, what does the J-10B with AL-31FN have anything to do with "4"? 3+1 (in AL31FN) = 4? That is just.......

That saying is from the guys who took the photos of J-20. Perhaps they are kidding me.
Chendu Research Institute has 11 depts, 1, 2, 3, 5~12. This is not a joke.

Plus, The J-10B crashed in a mountainous area, and the pilot survived. However it hit a sales office of a holiday resort and killed 3 people.

This applies to mandarin speakers as we'll, I've seen plenty of apartment buildings in northeastern China in which the 14 floor is labeled as 13a on the elevator

Actually, we did see 2001 fly the same kind of display two years ago or so, didn't we? I mean, what the 2001 did was no less than what this 31001 has done, right?

Well we saw at least two aileron rolls, but they were not really pulling many G's with it in my opinion, so yes and no, but of course you are correct.

I heard that (not confirmed) there is no #2014 because they jump over this number and make #2015 instead. 4 is an unlucky number in chinese or japanese which means die, and in chinese ,14 means "going to die".
You know a J-10B with AL-31FN crashed in November.

But why then 2002 renumbered to 2004 ??

As I mentioned in my last post, some of the Mandarin-speaking mainland Chinese did adopt some of the superstition originated in Hong Kong simply because of the increase in popularity of Hong Kong culture. But that's just some individuals who decide to believe in such things. So it's completely possible that some developers decided to name the 14th floor something else just to attract more customers. The Chinese Govn't on the other hand tends to stay away from such superstition.

Totally unrelated incident, don't lump them together to pure superstition nonsense. If this superstition is to be taken into consideration, then the Chinese should scrap all their AL-31FN engines.

All of what was said are hearsay, totally not true. Why?

14 is consider one of the better numbers combination if you want to be superstition. Why? 14 sounded like "one lifetime" in Chinese. That is why so many people had their passwords 1314, "One life, One Lifetime."

And as mentioned if the Chinese are really that superstition, then they should not even name any of their fighters J-15, J-16 and so on and so for... because 5 and 6 are consider unlucky (not to mention, we are seeing more than 1800 J-5 being built, and why would the Chinese built these much name such an important fighter at that time J-5 if the number 5 is consider unlucky... the only reason being, the Chinese are not superstition.)
